Jesus, The Life You Have Been Searching For!

Abundant Life

Jesus, The Life You Have Been Searching For!

John 10:9–11 NKJV
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. 11 “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
john 10:9-11
Life has many definitions. Depending on who you talk to and where you are – you will get varied understandings of what a good life is.
If you talk to someone here in America they would say, “Oh, if I could just live in the Caribbean that would be the life.” Then you ask a native of the Caribbean and they would say, “Oh, to live in America!”
The poor cry “Oh, to be rich!” While the rich often say, “Oh, to have a simple and healthy life!”

John 10:10 NLT
10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:10 AMP
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Jesus is not interested in you simply living or existing but living in abundance!

Watch The THIEF!!!!

John 10:10 AMP
10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Genesis 5:22–23 NKJV
22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years.
Galatians 5:22–23 NLT
22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
Galatians 5:23 NKJV
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
Gal
John 17:3 NKJV
3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
How do you live the abundant life?
1. Remove the weights of this life
1. Remove the weights of this life
2. Remove the sin of this world from your life.
Hebrews 12:1 NKJV
1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Hebrew
Think like a runner
1. We must lay aside every weight and lay aside the sin that so easily traps us.
The words "lay aside" mean to take off, strip off and to remove as in taking off clothes. a. The Christian runner must strip off "every weight"
This means any excess negative spiritual items.
All serious athletes train and strain to remove all excess weight.
This refers to things that may be legitimate and innocent in and of themselves, but they hinder the Christian runner.
They hamper and slow you down.
What kind of things would these be? What are some legitimate and innocent things, things that do not help a believer to grow and run the race as fast as he can?
Seeking entertainment instead of fellow shipping and communing with God—
Wanting to party all the time instead of praying and reading your Bible Focusing on worldly entertainers and their lives instead of worshipping and witnessing.
Seeking the possessions and things of this world instead of seeking God.
Listening to music and other sounds that do not build up our spirits nor focus our minds upon the truth and God.
Watching films and television that fail to strengthen us.
Anything that does not build us up and make us stronger is excess weight that slows us down
Don’t Look Back
Genesis 19:26 AMP
26 But [Lot’s] wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Side Note:
tells the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot, Abraham’s nephew, lived in Sodom with his family. His daughters were engaged to local men. Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom, the area where financial transactions and legal issues were decided , when two angels came into town. Lot invited them to stay with his family. A bunch of things went on that evening and the angels made sure Lot, his wife, and his two daughters left before God destroyed the city (
Genesis 19:13 NLT
13 For we are about to destroy this city completely. The outcry against this place is so great it has reached the Lord, and he has sent us to destroy it.”
As they fled, the angels warned them, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the valley; escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away” (
Genesis 19:17 NLT
17 When they were safely out of the city, one of the angels ordered, “Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! Escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away!”
). As they fled, the angels warned them, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you, and do not stay anywhere in the valley; escape to the mountains, or you will be swept away” ().
).
Lot ran, his daughters close behind. “But his wife, from behind him, looked back, and she became a pillar of salt”
Genesis 19:26 NKJV
26 But his wife looked back behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Gen
She lagged behind. She turned and watched the flaming sulfur fall from the sky, consuming everything she valued.
). She lagged behind. She turned and watched the flaming sulfur fall from the sky, consuming everything she valued. Then it consumed her. The Hebrew for “looked back” means more than to glance over one’s shoulder. It means “to regard, to consider, to pay attention to.” The Scriptures don’t say whether her death was a punishment for valuing her old life so much that she hesitated in obeying, or if it was a simple consequence of her reluctance to leave her life quickly. Either she identified too much with the city—and joined it—or she neglected to fully obey God’s warning, and she died.

Life more abundantly is when you live in the purpose you were created for.
That purpose of God that is tailor made to fit your life!
John 1:4–5 NKJV
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 6:46 NKJV
46 Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father.
John 6:47 The Message
47 “I’m telling you the most solemn and sober truth now: Whoever believes in me has real life, eternal life.
John 6:46
The Life You Have Been Searching For
1 John 5:11–13 NCV
11 This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life, but whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 I write this letter to you who believe in the Son of God so you will know you have eternal life.
As Believer’s our perspective on abundant life - must line up with the word of God!
Romans 12:2 NKJV
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Everyday we must Seek the Abundant Life In Christ
2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Let go of the weights
Transform your understanding of abundance
Colossians 3:2–3 NLT
