Acts 20:22–27 ESV
22 And now, behold, I am going to Jerusalem, constrained by the Spirit, not knowing what will happen to me there, 23 except that the Holy Spirit testifies to me in every city that imprisonment and afflictions await me. 24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. 25 And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about proclaiming the kingdom will see my face again. 26 Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all, 27 for I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole counsel of God.
The Spirit of God is preparing Paul for the difficulties that lay ahead for him.
God is making sure Paul knows that His Grace will be sufficient for Him even in the troubles that lay ahead.
We ought to realize as well in our difficulties it is the Grace of God that will see us through...

God’s Grace in Human Weaknesses

For sure we humans have weaknesses and God’s Grace will see us through it.
The Apostle Paul was upheld by the Grace of God where he was weak...
2 Corinthians 12:8–9 ESV
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
We would like to think that we are autonomous and sufficient outside of God our Savior and Creator.
It is God who works in us toward His eternal Glory...
1 Peter 5:10 ESV
10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Be careful that you do not try to replace the Grace of God with human strength.
Mankind tends to elevate our own abilities above God’s.
Human institutions in every form will be done away with. What institution do you believe will continue to exist in Heaven???
1 Corinthians 2:1–5 ESV
1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Our lives our purposeful, they have behind them the mind and intent of God.
Therefore He will provide what is necessary for the completion of His intent…this is Grace...
2 Corinthians 9:8 ESV
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
In making this Gospel of Grace personal, let’s consider that what should work through us toward salvation is also what Jesus life demonstrated to us.
God’s Righteousness At Christ Expense
will operate similar in our life’s experience, effectively becoming...
God’s Righteousness At Christian Expense
consider the following...

Christian Experience may be Summed Up in Terms of Grace

The righteous acts of God bring us salvation and make us into the image of Jesus.
He has worked hard and done for us what we could not have done for ourselves.
We ought to work hard as well, not to merit our salvation but to avoid worshipping and following God in vain...
1 Corinthians 15:10 ESV
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.
God’s Righteous Acts have given us something to believe in.
It is Grace which has brought us a Gospel and we should make great efforts to live it and preach it...
Acts 18:27 ESV
27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed,
Through Jesus we believe in His Righteous Acts.
We are convicted and remain firm toward a reward that brings hope...
Romans 5:2 ESV
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Since your life is purposeful and the intent of God stands behind that purpose, He calls out to you by the Acts which have given us this Gospel which can save our souls...
Galatians 1:15 ESV
15 But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace,
The lives of Christians participate in the Righteousness of God
Our life experience will have it’s turmoil but His Grace will uphold us through it all...
Philippians 1:7 ESV
7 It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.
Now we must co-operate with this Gospel of Grace in order to continue in it.
Choose continuously the purposeful life the Lord intends for you...

We Must Co-operate with Grace

Christians work together with God not by ourselves.
To work by ourselves is to work in vain...
2 Corinthians 6:1 ESV
1 Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.
Continue to co-operate with the Gospel of Grace.
Remain obedient throughout your lifetime in making your calling and election sure...
Philippians 2:12–13 ESV
12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
Co-operate with God and co-operate with each other in order to extend the salvation of God without failure.
A lack of co-operation stirs up trouble and unnecessary difficulties even apostasy…be careful...
Hebrews 12:15 ESV
15 See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;
The Son co-operates with the Father.
The Spirit co-operates with the Son.
The Apostles co-operate with Jesus and the Spirit of Christ.
Christians in turn must co-operate with the Word of God as it spells out the Righteous Acts of this good news.
In each step of the way humility allowed the Gospel of Grace to come into our hearing available for our obedience.
1 Peter 5:5 ESV
5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
We have available to us God’s Grace in our weakness.
Our lives are maintained by that Grace even defines it.
Build a conviction of co-operation with the calling of God which we find in His Gospel of Grace...
God’s Call and Plan of Salvation
Hear
Romans 10:17 ESV
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Believe
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Repent
Acts 17:30 ESV
30 The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
Confess
Matthew 10:32–33 ESV
32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
Be Baptized
1 Peter 3:21 ESV
21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Remain Faithful
1 Corinthians 10:12 ESV
12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall.
