THE POWER OF A CONSISTENT FAITH
dan 6:1-18
dan 6:1-17
Daniel 6:1-
INTRODUCTION:
When you hear the name Daniel, you immediately think about Daniel and the lions den…and that seems to be about all most people know of Daniel.
Daniel isn’t considered to be one of the superstars of the bible - like Abraham, Moses, David, Peter, John, or Paul.
But Daniel was a man of faith…He wasn’t flashy but he was a man of great faith.
Daniel was a man who possessed a consistent faith...
As a young man he was separated, ...
As a middle aged man, he was sold out, …
And even as an older man, he was surrendered, .
As we look at Daniel face and weather this great trial of faith, there are a few lessons I want to point out concerning the power of a consistent faith.
What we can learn from Daniel teaches us that it is consistency that pays off.
NOTE: It isn’t all about how you start the race, although that’s important, or about how you finish, even though that’s also important.
God is interested in our running faithfully all the way.
There is power in a consistent faith.
God wants us to be consistent…He doesn’t want us to be up & down…and in & out...
He wants us to be steady...
So, let me point out the lessons from the life of Daniel about The Power of a Consistent Faith...
I) A CONSISTENT FAITH WILL BE TESTED
I.
A CONSISTENT FAITH WILL BE TESTED
From the very beginning of the book of Daniel - Daniel has been determined to honor God and remain faithful…but it wasn’t always easy.
Here in chapter 6, a conspiracy against Daniel is set into motion b/c of his faith…but Daniel remains faithful.
He could have decided to not pray for 30 days but instead he continued to live out his faith even though it meant he could lose his life.
Notice in v. 10 that it says Daniel knew the decree had been signed but he went home and “he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime...”
He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously.
he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime...
