· 11 viewsJesus warned us (in Matthew 7 and 25) that there would be some surprised folk at Judgment. In other words, people who believed they are Christian, but find themselves excluded because they do not bear the marks of true Christianity. Here, in Romans 12:9-21, Paul outlines the marks of true Christianity. It is important to keep context in mind - for eleven chapters, Paul painstakingly taught the foundations of Christian doctrine starting in chapter 12, he begins his section on application of those truths. He has just finished his appeal to use the talents given each of us for the good of the church, and now, in verses 9 through 21, he tells us what a Christian should loook like, act like and be like. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
