I.
God is looking for a generation that will seek His face
A.               Some seek the face of man
B.                Some seek material things
C.               Some seek the favor of man
D.               Some seek the romantic relationships
E.                Some seek to be a friend of the world
F.                Some seek their own happiness
G.               Some seek the hand of God rather than the face of God
 
II.
We are always one generation away from becoming a godless society
A.               It is the responsibility for each generation to carry the torch
1.          God builds His church generationally (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob)
a               What we have we receive from the generation before us
b              What we have we give to the generation that follows us
2.          Each generation needs to receive the inheritance and blessing from the generation before it
a               Fathers must release it
b              The sons and daughter must receive it
3.
Each generation must walk faithfully in what it has been given
a               Noah was found perfect in his generation (Genesis 6:9)
b              David served his generation (Acts 13:36)
B.                God knows each generation according to its works—whether good or bad
1.          Evil generation
2.          Wicked generation
3.          Perverse generation
4.          Stubborn generation
5.          Rebellious generation
6.          Righteous generation
7.          Upright generation
8.          Chosen generation
C.               God has called us a chosen generation (1 Peter 2:9)
1.          Will we choose to rise up to the calling to be God’s chosen generation that will declare His praises in the earth?
D.               If we do not rise to our responsibility, the next generation will be a generation without God

Where is the generation that will seek God’s face?
A.               Where is the generation that will resist the influence of its culture?

IV.
Jacob was a man who sought the Lord’s face
A.               Jacob sought his brother’s birthright
B.                Jacob sought his brother’s blessing from their father
C.               Jacob was not a man who sought God
D.               Jacob ran from the problem and live life on his own terms
E.                Jacob met his equal in Laban, his father-in-law
F.                Jacob finally sought the blessing of God and was changed into a new man

What is the generation of Jacob who seeks God’s face?

C.               They have no idols in their lives (worship)
1.          Worship involves sacrifice.
a               True worship is sacrificing the treasures of this life to obtain God as our greatest treasure.
b              An idol is anything for which we are willing to sacrifice the things of God to obtain.
