Revive Me!

Pastor Keith Hassell

Foundation Scripture:  Psalm 119:153-160 (RESH)

“Revive” (Hebrew:  khaw-yaw) means to:  allow to live, nourish up, preserve to live, make alive, recover, repair, restore so as to live, revive from the point of death, save, to be whole.

David asks the Lord to revive him on the basis of three things:

I.       Revive me according to Your word (verse 154)

A.      This speaks of being revived according with God’s PROMISES.

          1.       2 Chronicles 7:14

          2.       Joel 2:12-13

          3.       Acts 3:19-21

B.      This speaks of being revived in accordance with His TRUTH.  Any revival that is not based upon the word of God misses the mark and is not true revival at all.

II.      Revive me according to Your judgments (verse 156)

A.      This speaks of being revived according to God’s righteous VERDICTS

1.       David trusts God’s righteous verdict on how to best correct and remedy his condition.

2.       Matthew 21:12-16 Jesus cleanses the Temple

          B.      This speaks of being revived according to God’s DISCIPLINE

1.       Hebrews 12:5-11

III.    Revive me according to Your lovingkindness (verse 159)

A.      This appeal is made on the basis of God’s mercy, favor, kindness, and pity on his condition.

B.      Psalm 103 God pities and forgives those who fear Him

IV.     Together these three things are the foundation for asking God for true revival:

A.      God’s WORD

B.      God’s JUDGMENT

C.      God’s MERCY
