Hebrews chapter 10 and we will be looking at verses 19 through 25 this morning.

Hebrews chapter 10

Looking at the implications of the New Covenant. Which we've been spending some time looking at over these list. You might smell.

Starting verse 19. It says having therefore Brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus by a New and Living Way, which he had consecrated for us through the veil that is to say his flesh. And having an high priest over the house of God. let us draw near with a True Heart in full Assurance of Faith having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering for he is faithful that promised. And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to Good Works not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as the manner of thumb is. But exhorting one another and so much more as you see the day approaching spray.

Dear heavenly father Lord with his thank you again. It would we have this time. You've given us that you've called us to Lord where your church where you're called out people Lord. We've been called together this morning. For the purpose of worshiping for the purpose of fellowshipping. The purpose of edifying and encouraging and provoking one another to love and to good works and Lord of pray that your word would show and just this morning pray that you would soften Hearts. I pray that you would give us understanding of your scripture and that your spirit. But speak to us this morning Lord. Thank you for all that. You've done in Jesus precious name we pray. Amen.

It's come to the end of the Apostles Exposition on the high Priestly role of Christ in the service of Christ in that role.

And in our Texas morning he begins to give us the application. Are there any application of these things? What are these things mean? What's the result what should they bring about within us?

And those are the things that he deals with us we get into these verses it begins their 19. It says having therefore Brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus by New and Living Way what she have consecrated for us through the veil that is to say through his flesh. And having a high priest over the house of God, so he's reminding us a nice. three verses I've all that he's been covering over the last several chapters.

That we have the boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus Christ, which of the New Covenant a New and Living Covenant. What she is consecrated for us that we can go through that Veil, which is the picture of the body of Christ. And that we have a high priest who sits over the house of God.

I'm reminded of a passage that we looked at back when we began looking at the high Priestly role of Christ as we read these words. back in Hebrews 4 verses 14 through 16 Hebrews 4 14 through 16 it says Sing then we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens Jesus the son of God, let us hold fast our profession. But we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was in all points tempted like as we are yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly into the throne of grace that we may obtain Mercy. And find Grace to help in time of need.

We can now come boldly. into the holy of holies

The old covenant could not allow the worst verse to even get close to the holy of holies. The general congregation can even come into the holy place which was outside of that most holy place. I didn't have that privilege. They didn't have that ability.

But under this new covenant, not only do we have that ability were encouraged to come into that place another way we encouraged to come into that. Most Holy presence of God But we're encouraged to do so boldly.

boldly to come and why is it that we can come boldly? Only told us there in verse 15. We have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities that word touched with the feeling of our infirmities the words there come from a Greek word, which means that he has compassion compassion on us. So we would have read it in the positive instead of the negative. We would say we have a high priest which has compassion on our infirmities.

We have a high priest that has compassion in our weakness. What are failure? On the struggle that we have with sin. He knows the Temptation that we go through. He knows the struggle that you're going through. He knows the temptation to send that you struggle with because he was tempted in all points. Like as we are yet without sin. But he understands. No, one understands like Jesus. No one understands Temptation like Jesus. No one understands the full implication of the Temptation unless they resist it. He did it without sin. He injured the Temptation without sin. That means he injured the full brunt of Temptation. When will yield to temptation? We don't feel the full effect of it. You feel the full effect of it when you resist. It's like a current of a river. If we resist the cart, we feel the full weight of it that way turn and we go along with it. We don't Christ felt the full brunt of Temptation because he was tempted yet without sin so he knows He knows like no one else and he is our high priest.

Because we have such a high priest. When is compassionate when you understands our weakness one who has forgiven who has? Taking away our sin.

By his blood we can come boldly. Into the throne of grace boldly into the presence of God boldly into the holiest. the police

look at you will turn over to Hebrews chapter 9.

verses 7 through 8

Hebrews 9 7 through 8. It says but I'm too II went the high priest alone once every year not without blood which he offered for himself and for The Heirs of the people.

The holy the Holy Ghost this signifying that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest while the first Tabernacle is yet standing. They didn't have that privilege in the first Tabernacle. Well that physical Tabernacle was still standing and still we were under that Covenant. We didn't have the way into the holiest of all only the high priest could go in and he can only go in once a year and he could only go in with the blood. For himself for his own sins and for the sins of the people. He didn't come in boldly. He couldn't enter in boldly. If he didn't enter in according to the law according to the the command that it was given. His life would be taken.

but now now we have access to enter boldly into the holiest of all.

How is that how is it that the high priest could only enter once a year and only with blood for himself and for the people. And yet now. Why the sinner?

Can come into the holiest of holies?

That's one who is inadequate as one who is unrighteous?

I can enter into that Holy presence of God.

It's not by any works. We have done that's for certain. Nobody works of righteousness that I've done. I can't internet into that place on my own Merit that we need to be clear of. Hey buddy, enter into that holiest of holies. We do so only by the blood of Jesus Christ.

We enter in by the blood of Jesus Christ. The blood has purged us made us righteous so that we are able to enter into that holiest of holies and we can boldly because of that. Not only can we enter in boldly but boldly is the only way we should enter into the holy of holies. That's the only way that we're told to enter into the holy of holies. Is boldly boldly coming to the presence of God? Why is that?

we come boldly because we come by the blood of Jesus Christ.

If we come on our own Merit, we can't come boldly. We come on our own Merit. We know or our shortcomings. We know our sin. We know our weakness.

but when we come trusting in the blood of Jesus Christ

In faith that that blood has made me righteous. Is giving me the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus? Then I can come. boldly into that place And if I come in any other way. Come timidly if I come in weakness if I come crawling? But I'm not having faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. I'm trusting in my own Merit. So he tells us come boldly. boldly into that presence

we can come boldly because of the offering of Jesus Christ and Hebrews 10 verse 10. It said by the which will that is the will of God by his will we are Sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all this is the new living way in which we can come into the holiest of holies. This is the only way this was always the way This is the last way. Because Jesus is the way the truth and the life and because no person can come to the father except by him.

Because there is no other name in heaven in Earth by which we must be saved, but Jesus Christ.

If you reject Jesus Christ, there is no more offering for sin. He's the only way he was always the only way and that's what the writer of Hebrews has been proving to us all through this book. But yes, they had offerings for sand. And yes, they had their ceremonial law that they kept but that was only a shadow of what was the true offering of sandwich was Jesus Christ. He was always only way. He always will be the only way.

It does matter who you believe in. All roads do not lead to God. The road is narrow the way is straight and there are few that find it the Bible tells us.

The mat why is Jesus Christ?

and so now knowing this knowing that we can come boldly into the presence of God into the holiest of holies by the blood of Jesus Christ. Knowing that we have a high priest which is over the house of God, which is Jesus Christ.

Who has compassion? Bernard infirmities

we come to the command given in our passage this morning. The first command it's given as let us draw near. Let us draw near to God.

This is what we were created for. This is what Adam and Eve had in the garden. They were able to draw near to God. They were able to have fellowship with God to walk with God in the garden. They have communion with him. This is what was lost because of sin and this is what was reclaimed for us by Jesus Christ.

So that we can once again draw near to God. This is fellowship with God. This is communion with God.

This is the deepest desire of every human being whether they realize it or not.

This is what we're all searching for. This is that deep spiritual hunger and thirst that each of us has.

We have an emptiness because we need fellowship with our creator. We need Fellowship in communion with our God.

The world's seeks for beauty 6 for belonging for purpose for love. And all the while blind to the fact that Jesus is the Fulfillment.

Jesus is the Fulfillment for all of those things. Jesus gives us purpose. Jesus gives us belonging.

Jesus is the manifestation of the love of God

and through Christ we can now draw near to God we can draw near to God.

That's the way it is been made for us through this new covenant.

That we're able to draw near to God. And so now that that way has been made for us. the writer encourages us draw near unto God

He says in verse 22 draw near with a True Heart in full Assurance of faith. Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience in our bodies washed with pure water. He'll wait to draw near to God. He says with a True Heart in full Assurance of Faith. That's how we draw near unto God. What does that mean?

What Jesus said in John chapter 4 verse 24?

He said God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

And Hebrews chapter 11.

verse 6 it says but without faith it is impossible to please him. For he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Southern Those that worship God that is those that are to draw near unto God must do so in faith and in truth. We can't draw near unto God any other way. We can only draw near to God through faith. Faith fit the God is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him faith in Jesus Christ faith in the blood of Jesus Christ did it, but it washes our sin.

and Truth acceptance of the truth that we have been washed.

This is the truth that we have to have faith in that's what he says in the next person and verse 22 of chapter 10. Sorry, I meant same verse rather. Let us draw near with a True Heart in full Assurance of Faith having a heart sprinkled from an evil conscience in our bodies washed with pure water. So when we draw near to God to fellowship and commune with him we must do so having a surance of faith in the truth that we have had our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience in our bodies washed with pure water. That's what is pictured in in baptism, but it's actually accomplished through the sanctification of the spirit of God.

This is the only way that we can draw near to God is with faith in this Truth full Assurance of Faith. He tells us. What's come to God knowing that we've been washed in the blood? That's what he's saying come to God knowing that your sins have been forgiven draw near unto God with this attitude of of I'm unworthy.

This is a powerful revelation.

When we draw near to God, he doesn't want it doesn't want us to come crawling and beating herself for the whip saying I'm not worthy. Tell him to we come to God feeling unworthy. Yes, we do So Unworthy. But we need to have faith that through Jesus Christ. We've been made acceptable. Through Jesus Christ because of his righteousness because of his death on the cross because of his sacrifice it was made. I have the righteousness of God.

God doesn't want us to come feeling inadequate. He's made us adequate so that we can come to him.

when we come to God with these down beaten feelings are this this feeling like I'm inadequate. I'm not worried that we might think that we're coming in a in a spiritual way are and humility. an actual fact We do so we're not approaching him in the full Assurance of faith in the truth that we've been washed in the blood of Christ. Our sins have been taken away and we are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

That's why twice. The Apostle told us that when we enter into the presence of God, we must come boldly into that presents. Because I'm coming by faith in Jesus Christ and what he's done not by faith in my own Merit.

Now there's a a great difference between boldly and pridefully. I just want to make that distinction. We can't come pridefully to God.

We must humble ourselves in the sight of the Lord God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, but you melody is not shame and guilt.

If I approach god with guilt and shame that I approached him with a lack of faith.

And without faith. It is impossible to please him.

We have to approach him. In faith, their sins have been forgiven that way been washed by the blood. Otherwise, we we can't stand in his presence. Otherwise we are unworthy if we've not been washed in the blood.

Just being in the presence of God will consume us if we stand in our own Merit.

But we come in faith become believing that Jesus has washed us has cleansed us. Then we come boldly in his presence knowing we have the righteousness of God.

So now what is the next command that he gives us?

Says what is hold fast?

Let us hold fast our profession of faith.

He says without wavering for his faithful that promised.

So what is it weird to hold fast to we hold fast to the two? the profession of our faith

we cannot hold fast to something if we do not have it.

So we see here what it is that we have. We have faith faith in Jesus Christ faith that he is God that by his sacrifice on the cross will wash were sprinkled with the blood having our conscience purse in our sins taken away. If we don't have this fight if you don't have this Faith this morning, then let's just stop right here.

place your faith in Jesus Christ

Trust him for the Salvation of your soul put your hope and your confidence in Jesus Christ. Repent of your sins and believe in him trust him. for your salvation trust him that he will save you make him Lord of your life. believe in Jesus Christ

If you don't have this Faith, you cannot hold fast to the profession of it.

But I trust that we have faith in Jesus Christ this morning. We believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that he died for our sins. We believe that he took our sins to the cross. And then when he died he paid for them and they are they were dealt with once and for all.

That's the fight that we have. We have faith it. The only way which we can come into the presence of God is through Jesus Christ. If we have this Faith then at some point we must have professed or confessed this faith. It says in Romans chapter 10.

verse 10

for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness. And with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. If you have faith in Jesus Christ. You need to confess that face. You need to make a confession of it. Need to confess it to him and he just confess it to others and to others that you have this faith.

business confession that way make this confession this profession of our faith that we are told to hold fast to that is we should remember when we first made that confession of faith. will remember that the first time that you realize that Jesus Christ died for your sins the first time that you realize that he was your only hope and you put your faith in him.

And you confess that you believe in him? Hold fast to that remembrance of that confession. We should also continue to profess our faith in Jesus Christ. Don't simply rely on having done it at one point in time in history. We should confess our faith in Jesus Christ daily. We should confess it one to another. We should tell others. In the world people that we come in contact with should not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's the power of God unto salvation to all those who believe.

From Faith to Faith. So what is make confession of that faith?

And this is that confession which were told to hold fast to we should hold fast to the truth of the Gospel. He says without wavering. without wavering that is without changing without without diverting from it at anyway.

There are a lot of things which we can change your mind about or we can debate about. even theologically but one thing that we should never change is our faith in Jesus Christ.

We should never waver on that.

He is all we have.

We should be like the disciples when Christ said will you also leave?

We should say where would we go?

No one else has the words. Have you turn on why?

Hold fast to Jesus Christ hold fast to your confession of faith in Jesus Christ comes and preaches. Another gospel don't receive it don't change on this don't accept another gospel.

There's only one way to Salvation is through Jesus Christ. Do not waver on this tree. Do not let it go do not drift away from it. Do not walk away from it. And the reason is given here for that is because it says for he is faithful that promised.

The reason given that we should hold fast our profession that we should be faithful to him that we should be faithful to the profession of faith that we made in him. Is because Jesus is faithful to you and he has made you many promises.

And one promise they made us is that he will never leave us or forsake us.

Jesus cannot deny himself

He is faithful to us. So hold fast to your profession of faith. Don't waver on it. Don't drift away from it man. We need this admonition today how easy it is for us to drift away from the truth of the Gospel. We get drawn away by living in this world by the things that we face on a day-to-day basis throughout a week. And suddenly the truth of the Gospel kind of dress back into the back of my mind. It should be right in the Forefront always.

We should hold fast to it.

Navigate to neglect Drawing Near to God because we let the truth slip for mines that because of the blood of Christ. We have bold access to the throne.

The old Covenant day couldn't come into the holy of holies. I couldn't come into the presence of God, and we've been given that privileged.

How often do we neglect it?

How often do we neglect coming into the presence of God? When the urges us to come to him to come into His presence. To come boldly unto the throne of grace come boldly to the holiest of holies.

And yet we often neglected.

Hold fast to this Faith hold fast to the faith that because of Jesus Christ. We have fellowship with God fellowship with him communion with him take full advantage. That's what the gospel provides for us.

Let's hold fast to this Faith. Let us not neglect. So great a Salvation.

and finally

the Commander's let us consider. Let us consider one another let us consider one another. in verse 24 and let us consider one another to provoke I to love and to Good Works.

considering one another provoking one another unto love That's a good works.

Philippians chapter 2 verses 3 and 4 says let nothing be done through Strife or vainglory but in lowliness of mind, but each esteem others better than himself.

Look, not every man to his own things. But every man also on the things of others when cards as Christians,

To be considerate of one another over and above ourselves. To put others above ourself to consider others and their needs above our own and so the Apostle says let us consider or the word. They're literally means let us look out for one another.

Let us watch out for one another. We are our Brother's Keeper. We are responsible to look out for one another.

Not only our way to draw near to God and hold fast our profession of Faith, but we're also to look out for what for each other to help one another so that we don't Drift Away.

We look out for each other.

Cuz we have an adversary. He seeks to draw Subway receipts to cause us to stop holding fast to that profession of Faith who seeks to give us other things to do other than enter into the presence of God. This so easy for us to fall into those traps. We need one another we need to look out for one another.

How do we look out for each other? It says to provoke. Unto love and good works to provoke unto love and good works.

Now this is a tricky one.

The word provoke means to incite or irritate. the price of

then we could say Well, it means to just encourage people in that would that would be a way of softening it? It does mean that but I think the translators got it free right there pretty close when they chose this word provoke. provoke

we don't like to be provoked.

we don't like to be challenged sometimes

no, this does not mean that we should become obnoxious. Are judgemental or rude? That's not what we're encouraged to do at all.

In Proverbs chapter 27 verse 17. What does it say?

iron sharpens iron

So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. When you sharpen a blade with another blade you bring the blades across one another. It only works because there is abrasion there's there's each time the blades cross each other. There's a little bit of metal it comes off. That's how it sharpens one another.

But if you turn the blade on too aggressive of an angle.

The not only when you fell to sharpen each blade but both ways will become dull. and damaged

So there should be provoking there should be. Some irritation, there should be some abrasion. But not aggressive provoking.

It should be provoking unto love and good works.

So how does this healthy provoking her? That's healthy abrasion. Take place.

How are we to provoke one another he says by not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together. Not for cycling forsaking the assembling. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together some manner of some years but exhorting one another and so much more as you see the bay approaching.

this

Sharpening of one another this abrasion that takes place is provoking this gentle provoking takes places with symbol together. That's where it takes place. That's how it takes place.

And so he encourages us not to forsake the assembling as some have

now That doesn't mean to forsake doesn't mean that I just miss a Sunday here and there it's talking about forsaking it. Stop coming. I stop assembling together.

So when we choose not to come to church.

as some as a matter of some is

I'm sure we all know someone who has some Christian has done this at some point. Where they decided that they don't need Church, they don't need. The assembling together but they can have a relationship with God and they can have communion with God and everything will be fine and they can do that away from other Christians not assembling together with them. But when we choose to do that, we choose not to be a part of church or come to church.

and notice

the word shows When we choose not to come to church, I'm not talking about those who are hindered by illness or out of town for whatever reason I'm talking about those that are well and able but I choose some other activity or they choose not to assemble together.

I may choose not to assemble together.

We're being inconsiderate of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

This is how we consider one another you say we have the wrong way of thinking about coming to church. We think that we come to church so that we get something from it. So did I get encouragement or edification? And so then it makes it easy for me to say well I can get that from watching Charles Stanley or her twins on bit behind the times I guess. They're always on whenever I'm standing here preachings.

David Jeremiah

These are good preachers No Doubt.

But it makes it easy for us to say all well I can get everything I need from just listening to that. I can have fellowship with God outside of the body of Christ outside of fellowshipping with one another. But that's because you're looking at it the wrong way you don't assemble together for you. Assemble together so that you can consider one another. So that we can provoke one another on to love and to good works. Why because we need it. We need it. So easy to fall away. So easy to become dull without that sharpening of one another that takes place when we come and we gather together. It's essential. for our faith That we do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together.

When we choose not to come or choosing not to come not just for me. but for all those that are at church

everybody that shows up. Misses out on your presents when you don't come. I miss out on the encouragement and miss out on the edification. I miss out on having that person that they can rub against and sharpened themselves against and you miss out on that as well.

So we must not forsake the assembling of ourselves together as a matter of some is.

You didn't say don't forsake the assembling of yourselves together so that you can beatified and encouraged.

He challenged Us by saying let us consider one another. Consider your brothers and sisters in Christ. Consider this walk of faith that were on and how difficult we each find it and consider the fact that everybody else finds the same thing. We all struggle. We struggle to keep our mind in our heart on Jesus Christ because there's so many distractions in this world. We need to come together and encourage one another and edify one another lift one another up provoke one another to love and good works. It's essential for us if we are to be able to draw near unto God. If we're able to hold fast to our profession of faith.

We must consider one another. I provoke and to love and to Good Works. Let's consider one another and these things this morning. Let's pray.
