The Rod of God vs The Rod of the wisemen

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ”

Whatever God is about to say is very important.

Whatever God is about to say is very important. God lets in on Moses and Aaron and tells them what is about to happen.

Going out, stepping out, trusting out.

Exodus 7:

Exodus 7:10 NKJV

So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent.

Here you have Moses and Aaron stepping out of this conversation with God and walking into the courts of Pharaoh.

Could you imagine what the conversations would have sounded like? I wonder what they would have said in-between the conversation with God and with Pharaoh?

Aaron then throws his rod (stick) on the ground before Pharaoh and allows God to work his wonders.

Why did God choose to use the rod? instead of a sandal or a sheep?

3 A symbol of authority (Judg. 5:14; Gen. 49:10). Moses’s rod was a symbol of his office and evidence of the divine authority for his actions. With this rod Moses performed wonders in Egypt and even instructed Aaron to use his for similar purposes (Exod. 4:1–5; 7:8–24; 14:16). By striking the rock at Horeb with his rod Moses provided water for the Israelites in the wilderness (Exod. 17:1–7). When there was a dispute over the authority to lead the people, Moses took Aaron’s rod and placed it in the tabernacle along with others representing the leading families of the nation. Aaron’s rod budded and produced almonds, signifying the authority vested in his line (and that of Moses) by God.

God used the symbol of the rod to prove his authority in which Moses and Aaron came in. They had come in the name and authority of YHWH. The Rod is a symbol of authority, Moses and Aaron’s, but of Gods.

Have you ever wondered on who’s authority you walk in? Do I walk with the authority of God? Or do I walk with the authority of man? Am I confident because the world tells me I can be, or am I confident because God tells me I am?

These are very important things to think about.

So I was told to stay within my means. Islander influence, worldly influence and heaps of others. But God had a different path for me to walk, he encouraged me to walk in confidence because of Him. Because he has set the path all I had to do is trust and walk in it.

There is a testing pattern that has happened since the beginning of time, which will last till the end of time. The great controversy between good and evil. There is a good side and an evil side, and they are fighting for you. One wants to give you life and the other wants to destroy you. One loves you and the other hates you. One gives you a freedom of choice to follow Him and the other tricks and forces you into believing.

Here we see Aaron and Moses showing Gods wonders through a piece of stick. The power of God here is seen replicated by the so called intelligent people. Pharaohs smart people have also worked a similar miracle. However, it has no power and it is fake.

The Outcome

Exodus 7:13 NKJV

And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said.

There are two options either your heart get harder, or its gets softer.
