Right at the very beginning of creation God gave man authority in the garden. Satan through deception robbed man of his god-given authority on earth. Ever since then man has lived in bondage to sin. When Jesus said, it is finished; He completed the work of regaining the authority that man had lost. He took the keys, meaning He took the power and authority back from Satan, and gave all authority back to man. But most people don’t realize that they possess this authority, so until someone operates in the authority given them, authority is useless. Jesus never meant for his followers to struggle through life but to walk in victory. Today, we will look at walking in Spiritual Authority.
1. In the Great Commission -
Matthew 28:18–20 HCSB
Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
What Jesus is saying here is, I possess all authority in heaven and earth. He then released his disciples to take the message of the gospel into all the world. SAY ALL THE WORLD! With that same authority that He operated in while he walked this life. Has been given to us His church and we are His church!
Ephesians 1:19–23 HCSB
and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength. He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens — far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church, which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way.
2. 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of His power to us who believe, according to the working of His vast strength. 20 He demonstrated this power in the Messiah by raising Him from the dead and seating Him at His right hand in the heavens — 21 far above every ruler and authority, power and dominion, and every title given, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of the One who fills all things in every way. (HCSB)
Jesus isn’t just sitting in heaven waiting for our arrival. He is seated at the right hand of God, as the High Priest of God, who makes intercessions for us. Jesus is the head of the church, we operate as His body. Since He is above everything, we are above everything by being in Christ. Everything is under our feet. Through the name of Jesus, the Word of God, the blood of Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, we operate in authority over everything. Most Christians don’t even know about this authority or they don’t want to as it makes them accountable. Say Amen or Oh me!!

Colossians 2:14–15 HCSB
He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and disgraced them publicly; He triumphed over them by Him.
Jesus has freed us from the domination of sin in our lives. Everything that the devil had on us, Jesus erased by His blood. He made a show of the devil nailing all of our sins to the cross. So we don’t walk in defeat, but victory over sin, Satan and all powers in this world.

1 John 4:4 HCSB
You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 John 4:4 HCSB
You are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
Why have we overcome? Because of the Holy Spirit operating in us, the same power that raised Christ from the dead is at work in each of us now. We have greater power, in Jesus Name, than all the demonic forces in this world. We can take authority over anything that comes against us. Remember, No weapon formed against us will prosper. [Isaiah 54:27]
Luke 10:19 HCSB
Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will ever harm you.
Luke 10:19 HCSB

Jesus gave the 70 power to go out in His name. They rejoiced that the devil was subject to them through the name of Jesus. Jesus has been given a name that is above every other name.
Matthew 18:18 HCSB
I assure you: Whatever you bind on earth is already bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth is already loosed in heaven.
There is an agreement between heaven and us on earth. Jesus is the Head, seated with all authority, He binds what we bind, and He loses what we lose. You can bind up the devil in Jesus name and cast him to the pit where he belongs. You can lose people from the chains that bind them. Chains of addictions, chains of depressions, sickness and despair. The list can go on forever… Jesus is the answer for all of life’s problems.

2 Corinthians 10:3–5 HCSB
For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.

I really need to stress this here… so please listen. This is not carnal authority that I’m talking about, but is the authority that God has given into our lives through Jesus Christ. If we operate from our flesh, we will be defeated. We must operate in the Spirit of God, Word of God and Name of Jesus to walk in ultimate victory.

Matthew 8:8–10 HCSB
“Lord,” the centurion replied, “I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But only say the word, and my servant will be cured. For I too am a man under authority, having soldiers under my command. I say to this one, ‘Go!’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come!’ and he comes; and to my slave, ‘Do this!’ and he does it.” Hearing this, Jesus was amazed and said to those following Him, “I assure you: I have not found anyone in Israel with so great a faith!

You see, having authority and using authority are two separate things. All believers have been given this power from on high, but not all operate in their God given authority. Until you learn Spiritual Warfare, you will be unable to walk in the total freedom that Jesus purchased by His Blood, for you.

I tell you that many will come from east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Then Jesus told the centurion, “Go. As you have believed, let it be done for you.” And his servant was cured that very moment. When Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began to serve Him. When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick, so that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He Himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases. When Jesus saw large crowds around Him, He gave the order to go to the other side of the sea. A scribe approached Him and said, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go!” Jesus told him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.” “Lord,” another of His disciples said, “first let me go bury my father.” But Jesus told him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.” As He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him. Suddenly, a violent storm arose on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But He was sleeping. So the disciples came and woke Him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to die!” But He said to them, “Why are you fearful, you of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea. And there was a great calm. The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this?—even the winds and the sea obey Him!” When He had come to the other side, to the region of the Gadarenes, two demon-possessed men met Him as they came out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way. Suddenly they shouted, “What do You have to do with us, Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?” Now a long way off from them, a large herd of pigs was feeding. “If You drive us out,” the demons begged Him, “send us into the herd of pigs.” “Go!” He told them. So when they had come out, they entered the pigs. And suddenly the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and perished in the water. Then the men who tended them fled. They went into the city and reported everything—especially what had happened to those who were demon-possessed. At that, the whole town went out to meet Jesus. When they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region. So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town. Just then some men brought to Him a paralytic lying on a mat. Seeing their faith, Jesus told the paralytic, “Have courage, son, your sins are forgiven.” At this, some of the scribes said among themselves, “He’s blaspheming!” But perceiving their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why are you thinking evil things in your hearts? For which is easier: to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Get up and walk’? But so you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He told the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your mat, and go home.” And he got up and went home. When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck and gave glory to God who had given such authority to men. As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow Me!” So he got up and followed Him. While He was reclining at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came as guests to eat with Jesus and His disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked His disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” But when He heard this, He said, “Those who are well don’t need a doctor, but the sick do. Go and learn what this means: I desire mercy and not sacrifice. For I didn’t come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Then John’s disciples came to Him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but Your disciples do not fast?” Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests be sad while the groom is with them? The time will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one patches an old garment with unshrunk cloth, because the patch pulls away from the garment and makes the tear worse. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the skins burst, the wine spills out, and the skins are ruined. But they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” As He was telling them these things, suddenly one of the leaders came and knelt down before Him, saying, “My daughter is near death, but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live.” So Jesus and His disciples got up and followed him. Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for 12 years approached from behind and touched the tassel on His robe, for she said to herself, “If I can just touch His robe, I’ll be made well!” But Jesus turned and saw her. “Have courage, daughter,” He said. “Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that moment. When Jesus came to the leader’s house, He saw the flute players and a crowd lamenting loudly. “Leave,” He said, “because the girl isn’t dead, but sleeping.” And they started laughing at Him. But when the crowd had been put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl got up. And this news spread throughout that whole area. As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, shouting, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When He entered the house, the blind men approached Him, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they answered Him. Then He touched their eyes, saying, “Let it be done for you according to your faith!” And their eyes were opened. Then Jesus warned them sternly, “Be sure that no one finds out!” But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout that whole area. Just as they were going out, a demon-possessed man who was unable to speak was brought to Him. When the demon had been driven out, the man spoke. And the crowds were amazed, saying, “Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel!” But the Pharisees said, “He drives out demons by the ruler of the demons!” Then Jesus went to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every sickness. When He saw the crowds, He felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Summoning His 12 disciples, He gave them authority over unclean spirits, to drive them out and to heal every disease and sickness. These are the names of the 12 apostles: First, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him. Jesus sent out these 12 after giving them instructions: “Don’t take the road leading to other nations, and don’t enter any Samaritan town. Instead, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, announce this: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with skin diseases, drive out demons. You have received free of charge; give free of charge.

Listen - acting like you have authority and really possessing authority are two different things. The scribes and Pharisees acted like they had authority, but people recognized Jesus as truly possessing Spiritual Authority. It is the same today, people can see through religion, the devil can recognize someone who is talking the talk without walking the walk. You must be connected to Christ to operate in His authority. He is the vine, we are the branches, without Him we can do nothing. Close:

If you were here this morning - Remember when I said that I believe God has called Victory Biker Church to be a place that God’s power would flow? That we would be like Peter and the disciples as they would be walking and their shadows would fall on the sick… and they were immediately healed?
If you’ve been here for a while you’ll remember when I said that I believe God has called Victory Biker Church to be a place that God’s power would flow? That we would be like Peter and the disciples as they would be walking and their shadows would fall on the sick… and they were immediately healed?
We will never accomplish this vision if we do not understand and walk in the authority that God has given us, Jesus gave us His authority, His blood, His name and has called us to go into the highways and byways and to use His authority to minister to the needs of others. Not for our own vain glory but for His glory.
Walk in renewed purpose, and don’t worry that all hell is against you, just remember all heaven is for you.Authority of the believer #1

You see, having authority and using authority are two separate things. All believers have been given this power from on high, but not all operate in their God given authority. Until you learn Spiritual Warfare, you will be unable to walk in the total freedom that Jesus purchased by His Blood, for you. We must stand in the liberty that Christ has made us free. You
9. “Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (HCSB)
We must stand in the liberty that Christ has made us free. You have to stand in the liberty, having done all, to stand.
Galatians 5:1 HCSB
Christ has liberated us to be free. Stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.
10. 22 They were astonished at His teaching because, unlike the scribes, He was teaching them as one having authority. (HCSB)
We will never accomplish this vision if we do not understand and walk in the authority that God has given us, Jesus gave us His authority, His blood, His name and has called us to go into the highways and byways and to use His authority to minister to the needs of others. Not for our own vain glory but for His glory.
Walk in renewed purpose, and don’t worry that all hell is against you, just remember all heaven is for you
