IV.       Why Revival?

A.               No. 1:  Because the church in East Texas is lukewarm, ineffective, satisfied and unaware of its backslidden condition

B.                No. 2:  Because people in East Texas are

1.          Spiritually dry

2.          Burned out in sin

3.          Lost for direction

4.          Tired of dead religion

5.          Crying out “There must be more!”

6.          Desperate for answers

7.          Hungry for spiritual reality

C.               No. 3:  Because people in East Texas are searching for

1.          Meaning and purpose

2.          Answers and direction

3.          Spiritual reality

4.          A genuine faith

5.          A living hope

6.          Authentic love

7.          Godly leadership

8.          Real relationships

9.          True discipleship

D.               No. 4:  Because without revival, East Texas and our nation will continue to experience the tragic consequences of sin

E.                No. 5:  Because without revival the church will continue to be part of the problem rather than part of the solution

V.          Why Restoration?

A.               No. 1:  Because the church in East Texas needs to be restored to New Testament

2.          Prayer

8.          Pursuits

9.          Patterns

10.      Principles

11.      Passion

B.                No. 2:  Because people’s lives need to be restored from the destructive consequences of sin

C.               No. 3:  Because marriages and families need to be healed and restored

D.               No. 4:  So we can finish our mission and fulfill our purpose

VI.       God began a new thing

A.               Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV) “Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it will spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

B.                The new thing God is doing cannot be compared to the old thing God did

C.               God was going to deliver Israel from Babylon in a different way than He did in Egypt

1.          Deliverance from Egypt represents salvation

2.          Deliverance from Babylon represents revival and restoration

D.               God will finish what He started

VII.    What must we do?

A.               We must return to our first love (passion for Jesus)

B.                We must do the first works (passion for revival and restoration)

VIII. What has God promised to do?

A.               He will make roadway out of the wilderness

1.          People prepared for the Lord

2.          Isaiah 43:3-5 (NKJV) “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the LORD; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight, and the rough places smooth; the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.”

3.          Luke 3:4-6 The message of John the Baptist

B.                He will make rivers in the desert

1.          Refreshing of the Holy Spirit

2.          Ezekiel 47:1-12

3.          John 7:37-39 (NKJV) “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood up and cried out saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’ But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”
