Jesus knows our spiritual temperature*
A.      Your works (efforts to do God’s will)

You are neither cold nor hot
          2.
I wish that you were cold or hot
3.       Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

Lukewarmness:  The Cause

A.      We fail to maintain a passionate first love relationship with Jesus.
B.
We fail to make time for God in our daily lives
          1.
Putting self ahead of God
          2.
Putting family ahead of God
          3.
Putting job ahead of God
4.       Putting ministry ahead of God
                   5.       Love is a four-letter word:  “T-I-M-E”

We fail to obey the Lord
                   1.       When we do not obey the Lord, we step away from the fire

The results of being lukewarm
A.      A false sense of well-being:  “I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing.”
B.      Wretched
1.       Cheap, poor quality, very inferior
2.       There is little substance to your faith
3.       Your usefulness to the Master has diminished
4.       You no longer “measure up” as a Christian on the Divine scales of judgment
5.       Wretched also carries the idea of being unhappy.
You are no longer happy as a Christian.
Your happiness now comes from other things

3.       Jesus spoke of making deposits in the bank of heaven
B.      Buy from Jesus white garments:  That you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed
1.       Laodicea was known for its production and manufacture of glossy black wool garments
2.       Jesus was saying, “Stand out, be different.”
C.      Anoint your eyes with eye salve:  That you may see
1.       Laodicea was known for producing a salve for the curing of eye disorders
2.       Jesus was saying, “Let me anoint your diseased eyes so that you might see again.”
