As we begin this 4th and last phase of Discipleship, which is the Remain in Me phase. Let’s recap on what we’ve learned up to this point. First, the Come and See phase, which lasted about 3 months, opened the door for people to hang out with Jesus. At the conclusion of this phase, one had accepted Jesus as Savior, was baptized, and began telling others about Jesus.
Second, the Come Follow Me phase, which lasted about 9 months and was considered the training phase. In this phase, one would learn and grow in their faith. They would spend time with Jesus everyday learning about His love for others and how to reach people with the gospel. By the end of this phase, the disciple would know the basics of the faith while continuing to deepen their understanding of God’s truth. In addition, they would grow in their commitment to Him and get involved in ministry.
Third, the Come, Be with Me phase, which lasted about 2 years, was primarily one of “doing.” The disciple who reached this phase would be deployed in ministry. They would put into practice what they saw Jesus do while they continued being trained. It was in this phase that the disciple would join Jesus in preaching the gospel—a true partner in ministry. At the same time, the disciple would continue to grow in faith, in knowledge, and in the power of God.

About 20 years ago, there was a Pastor who saw something in me and decided to spend time with me discipling me. I met with him weekly for 1 year covering all kinds of topics that he felt were key topics for me to learn.
After that year, I began discipling others, watching them grow in their faith. Today, I have no idea where most of them are at. But, one day a few years back, I got a call from a guy that I hadn't seen in over 20 years. He thought of looking me up on Face Book to see where I was at in life. He called to let me know how much of a difference I had made in his life.
You never know the depth at which you touch people's lives. Just when you think you are pouring your life into someone, you realize that they also have been pouring their life into yours.

This morning, we’re going to talk about the last phase, the Remain in Me phase. This level covers the period when Jesus is brought before Caiaphas, the high priest, in , and concludes with Jesus’ ascension in .
Jesus knew that His time was near to return to the Father. He knew that when He departed, His trusted disciples would need to carry on the ministry that He had spent so much time sharing with them. But there were still some things that needed to be done first.
(NLT) “16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted! 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,* baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” [1]

And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” [1]
