When God Delivers You from a Crazy Situations
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
Confession of Faith
I am not moved by what I see or by what I feel. I am moved by what I believe. I believe the WORD of God! The victory is mine! I have it now! I can see it through the eyes of my faith!
1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Introduction: That Crazy Situation, uncontrolled emotions are a powerful influence over our behavior. When consumed with misdirected zeal, anger, jealously, fear, or some other strong feeling, we tend to make rash decisions and act foolishly. For this reason and others, THE Bible frequently stresses the importance of self-control. When we act emotionally, we tend to create messy situations.
in . King David is on the run from jealous Saul and he’s scared , In his fear David foolishly ran to the worse place to go: Gath, home of Goliath, the ten-feet-tall giant whom David had recently killed.
When the servants of King Achish recognized him, David started a plan of survival. He pretended to be insane, scratching on the doors and drooling on his beard. King Achish kicked him out of the palace, and David escaped to the cave of Adullam.
Eventually, four hundred of Israel’s outcasts gathered with David, forming an army with him as leader (). While there, David wrote this psalm to celebrate the Lord’s deliverance and to instruct his ragged band of soldiers to respect - fear the Lord.
Thankfully, The Lord comes to our aid when our emotions overpower us and motivate us to act foolishly.
When we fear Him and live righteously, God will deliver us from what is often our most dangerous enemy: ourselves.
Far too often, we are controlled by our old nature rather than by the Holy Spirit.
But God is faithful to us when we are in trouble, even trouble we create for ourselves. This is the message of .
1 I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

1. Praise the Lord. God had done great things for David; therefore he declared that He would bless the name of the Lord.
Bless (barak) is derived from the Hebrew word for knee, and it literally means to kneel. It usually describes reverential worship, as contrasted to exuberant praise. In blessing the Lord, David expressed His respect and gratitude to God.
a. Praise Him at all times (v. 1). Although David had just been delivered from Achish, he promised to bless the Lord in every circumstance of his life, the bad as well as the good.
At all times is also translated as season and refers to the appointed times or periods of life ().
In every season of life—positive and negative, joyful and painful, happy and sad—David was determined to worship the Lord and praise His name.
b. Boast in Him before the afflicted and helpless (v. 2). David was confident that his praise would encourage the humble : those whose spirits are brought low due to suffering or oppression. Specifically, he spoke of the men who had gathered in the cave with him, men who were depressed and discouraged because of adverse circumstances in their lives (). David was determined to lift their spirits by boasting about the Lord’s power and faithfulness.
Thought 1. We should follow David’s example in every season of life. It is easy to bless the Lord when all is well or when He does something marvelous for us. But it is not so easy to bless Him when we suffer loss or affliction. Scripture commands us to give thanks in every circumstance, knowing that God’s will is being accomplished in our lives

We can never over-estimate the power of an encouraging word. Like David, we should purpose to cheer the depressed by pointing them to the Lord, sharing testimonies of God’s faithfulness and power in our own lives. A joyful believer is a powerful tool in the hand of God, one He can use to repair many wounded spirits. 2. Invite those who are going through problems to exalt the Lord with you
3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.
6 This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, And delivers them.
Overflowing with gratitude for God’s deliverance David invited his distressed comrades to join Him in praising God
In verse(v. 3). To magnify the Lord is to proclaim His greatness. To exalt Him is to lift or raise Him up. Two desires moved David to initiate a worship service in the cave of Adullam: First, he longed to experience the power of lifting up the great name of the Lord, worshipping with others in addition to his private worship.
He wanted to celebrate God with others.
Second, he wanted his dejected friends to know that God could do for them what He had done for David. As they joined him in lifting up the Lord, David knew that the spirits of his companions would also be lifted.
a. Because you sought the Lord and He delivered you from all your fears (v. 4).
b. Because He gives joy—never shame—to all who look to Him for help (v. 5).
c. Because you prayed in your desperation, and He heard you: He saved you from all your troubles (v. 6).
d. Because the angel of the Lord Himself is your guard: He protects and delivers all who fear Him (v. 7).
3. Invite others to taste God’s goodness.
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
9 Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.
10 The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
a. Trust—take refuge—in Him and you will be blessed (v. 8).
b. Fear Him and you will have all you need (v. 9).
c. Seek Him and you will lack no good thing: Contrast lions that sometimes suffer hunger (v. 10).
11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it.
Psalm 34:
4. Teach your children to fear the Lord.
a. Teach them how to live a long and prosperous life (v. 12).
b. Teach them to control their tongue: Never to speak evil or lie (v. 13).
c. Teach them to flee evil and do good (v. 14a).
d. Teach them to seek peace, to diligently pursue it (v4b)
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20 He guards all his bones; Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked, And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the soul of His servants, And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.

5. Encourage the righteous.
a. Because the Lord watches over them and hears their cry of desperation (v. 15).
18 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy,

b. Because the Lord turns away from those who do evil and condemns them: He will remove them from the earth (v. 16).
c. Because the Lord hears the righteous cry out for help: He delivers them from all their troubles (v. 17).
d. Because the Lord is close to the brokenhearted: He saves those who have crushed spirits (v. 18).
e. Because the Lord delivers the righteous from all afflictions, each and every time (v. 19).
f. Because the Lord protects the righteous from physical harm (v. 20).
g. Because the wicked and those who do evil against the righteous will be condemned (v. 21).
h. Because the Lord redeems those who serve and take refuge in Him: Not one will be condemned (v. 22).
Conclusion. begins in a cave and ends at Calvary! David’s message to his dejected band of outcasts is our message to the world today: Regardless of what we have done, we can be delivered through the death of God’s Son Jesus Christ on the cross.

24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
When we trust Christ—run to Him for refuge from the condemnation of sin—He redeems us from the punishment our sin deserves, and He clothes us in His righteousness. Moreover, He delivers us from sin’s power. No longer must our bodies be instruments of sin, but by yielding to Him, we become instruments of righteousness . When we live righteously, we receive all the blessings promised to those who fear the Lord.
