Jesus’ compassion is relentless
He didn’t just feel compassion for the family members of his disciples. He was unrelenting compassion drove him to help all that would come to him.
Jesus’ service is humble
They pressed in to the door of the house he was staying in. They came at night. They came in mass. Jesus didn’t complain about the intrusion into his privacy. He simply served the sick and the oppressed.
Jesus’ power is infinite
Jesus may have tired physically. He may have grown physically weary in his work, but his power to heal and cast out never diminished. It never lessened. It never weakened. His power is infinite. Our finite minds can’t comprehend the magnitude of God’s power.
Jesus’ authority is unquestioned
Jesus silenced all opposition. No demon could resist his authority. No word could be spoken against his commands.

The Messianic Secret
During Jesus’ ministry he constantly told people to keep his miracles a secret, he commanded demons not to speak about who he was, and He even had to tell the disciples to keep his identity secret a couple of times. There are several observations we can make about why this Messianic Secret was so important.
Jesus wasn’t here to simply perform miracles. He came to strike a death blow to sin on the cross.
Jesus didn’t want to attract too much attention to himself. He had enough trouble with crowds of people following him. Every moment he had to spend with the crowds was a moment that he couldn’t spend teaching his disciples.
There was a misconception that the messiah would come and overthrow the Roman government and free Israel. Jesus wanted to fight that misconception. He was a messiah that the Old Testament prophets called a suffering servant.
Jesus wanted secrecy because he was humble. He didn’t need all the attention and temporary praise the miracles brought him.
Jesus wanted to show that his suffering and death were more important than his miracles. We don’t follow Jesus because of his miracles. We follow him because we trust that his death was on our behalf, and that his resurrection brought us victory over sin.
Jesus wanted to avoid recognition from less than desirable sources like demons and hypocritical religious leaders.
