The Power of Your Testimony

Pastor E. Keith Hassell

Revelation 12:7-12

Revelation 12:11 (NKJV) And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”

I.              There is power in your testimony! (Revelation 12:7-11)

A.               Against the great dragon, the serpent of old, called the Devil, and Satan, who deceives the whole world, the accuser of our brethren

B.                Our testimony gives us influence

C.               Job 29:7-25 (NKJV) “When I went out to the gate by the city, when I took my seat in the open square, 8 The young men saw me and hid, and the aged arose and stood; 9 The princes refrained from talking, and put their hand on their mouth; 10 The voice of nobles was hushed, and their tongue stuck to the roof of their mouth. 11 When the ear heard, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw, then it approved me; 12 Because I delivered the poor who cried out, the fatherless and the one who had no helper. 13 The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. 14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban. 15 I was eyes to the blind, and I was feet to the lame. 16 I was a father to the poor, and I searched out the case that I did not know. 17 I broke the fangs of the wicked, and plucked the victim from his teeth. 18 Then I said, ‘I shall die in my nest, and multiply my days as the sand. 19 My root is spread out to the waters, and the dew lies all night on my branch. 20 My glory is fresh within me, and my bow is renewed in my hand.’ 21 Men listened to me and waited, and kept silence for my counsel. 22 After my words they did not speak again, and my speech settled on them as dew. 23 They waited for me as for the rain, and they opened their mouth wide as for the spring rain. 24 If I mocked at them, they did not believe it, and the light of my countenance they did not cast down. 25 I chose the way for them, and sat as chief; so I dwelt as a king in the army, as one who comforts mourners.”

II.           Our testimony is known in three realms

A.               In heaven

B.                Among the demons

C.               In earth

III.        We have a testimony in heaven

A.               God knows our testimony even if no one else does

B.                Our testimony is that we are saved through the blood of Jesus and are made righteous through faith

1.          Hebrews 11:4 (NKJV) By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.”

C.               Revelation 6:9 (NKJV) When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.”

D.               The devil cannot touch our testimony in heaven

1.          Job 16:19 (NKJV) Surely even now my witness is in heaven, and my evidence is on high.”

IV.       We have a testimony among the demons

A.               Acts 19:15 (NKJV) And the evil spirit answered and said, ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?’”

V.          We have a testimony in the earth

A.               1 Timothy 3:7 (NKJV) Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.”

B.                Hebrews 11:5 (NKJV) By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, ‘and was not found, because God had taken him’; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.”

C.               3 John 12 (NKJV) Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true.”

D.               Revelation 11:7 (NKJV) When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.”

E.                Part of our testimony on the earth is that we bear the testimony of Jesus in this world

VI.       The devil hates and wants to destroy your testimony

A.               Job 1:6-12; 2:1-10

B.                Job was unwilling to lose his testimony

C.               Job 16:19 (NKJV) Surely even now my witness is in heaven, and my evidence is on high.”

D.               The power of Job’s testimony on earth was a life well lived among men and before God

E.                God will allow Satan to test our testimony. But with God every test only increases the power of our testimony!

VII.    How the devil attacks our testimony

A.               Through tempting us to sin

1.          When we sin, our testimony can be restored if we repent and allow the testimony of God’s faithfulness and forgiveness to be added to our testimony of Him

B.                Through false accusation

1.          Like Job, Satan falsely accuses us before God and we must hold true to God when we experience fiery trials meant to overcome our testimony

2.          Like Job who was falsely accused by his friends, we must appeal to the court of heaven for the true defense of testimony

3.          We must overcome the accuser by never letting go of our testimony

VIII. Increase the power of your testimony!

A.               Hold true to your testimony of Jesus

B.                Don’t allow sin to destroy your testimony

C.               Remember that your testimony in heaven will stand in the face of false accusation

D.               Increase the power of your testimony

1.          Dedication to Christ

2.          Living holy in this life

3.          Works of righteousness

4.          Service to others

5.          Love for all
