Offering
he should not “withhold good from him to whom it is due” (lit., to its owners).
“Good” refers to any good deed or act of beneficence.
The limitation on this command is this: “when it is in the power of your hand to do it,” i.e., when you are in a position to do so and when you have the opportunity to do so (cf.
Gal 6:10).
The allusion may be to a charity upon which the poor have a claim under the law of Moses.
The implication here is that man owns nothing.
He is but a steward of that with which God has blessed him (3:27).
Second, when one came seeking help, the disciple of wisdom should not send that person away with promises that help would be forthcoming “tomorrow.”
That only adds to a person’s worry.
At the same time being forced to ask for help a second time is demeaning.
Thanks to everyone who has brought backpacks and school supplies for McCormick Elementary..
If you have not yet and you would like to: there are papers at the Welcome Center with a list of the supplies needed for each grade.
I met with Principal White on Thursday and said they expect over 400 students this year.
Some of these children are actually living in local shelters because their families are homeless.
Many cannot afford backpacks.

Can you imagine the embarrassment of not having your school supplies when all the kids around you have theirs?
This can really affect a child.
It causes them to be embarrassed, hesitant, distracts them from learning and erodes their confidence.
That is just not how we want students to start out their school year.
We want them to start out their year well equipped, confident and ready for a new year.
You can make the difference for a child this year.
If everyone takes one a paper and brings a backpack, we should have 90 backpacks to deliver to McCormick.
And it is not too late.
We will be taking the first shipment over this week.
But we will be receiving backpacks all the way through the end of the month.
If you can, when you bring your backpack with the supplies, please put the paper inside of the backpack so we know what grade it is for.
I love being a part of a Church that gives generously to care for the poor and the needy.

The Meaning Of Love
1 Cor 13:
Love does not delight in evil.
“Love does not delight in evil”; loving people do not rejoice when they see people doing wrong things so that then they can keep bringing up such deeds to blackmail them
After 9/11 American news channels played video of Palestinians celebrating at the collapse of the towers.
That was devastating.
On the other hand, let me ask you this: how many of you celebrated when you saw American planes bombing ISIS.
This is complicated.
On one hand, most of us would abhor all that ISIS stands for and would rightfully celebrate anything that hinders their march of terror.
On the other hand, have we actually considered the agony of suffering from an explosion, or the thousands of innocent people who were victimized first by ISIS and then became collateral damage of America’s war against ISIS.
I am not criticizing our military.
I thank God for their service and the freedom it has provided us.
I am drilling down beyond that to ask you personally- what happens in your heart when you see a Muslim terrorist suffer.
Or how do you feel when an innocent Muslim suffers.
David Steward Story
Pride and bitterness rejoice when others suffer.
Their jealousy causes them to seek not good, but evil for others.
Love does not.
Pride and bitterness rejoice when others suffer.
Their jealousy causes them to seek not good, but evil for others.
Love does not.
Love always wants what is best for others and at its core desires to see good happen for other people.
Love Test
Is there someone you delight to see fail?
Suffer?
Be embarrassed?
This is a sign that pride has produced a bitterness with in you and that you do not love that person.
Surgery Stop: Let’s pause for a minute.
If we have anger and bitterness in our hearts towards someone, it will cut off the flow of God’s grace and forgiveness towards us.
Sometimes we are not honest about the condition of our hearts.
But the Holy Spirit is a perfect friend and our personal coach.
He loves us and wants to purify our hearts.
Pray now and ask the Holy Spirit to show you who you need to forgive?
Who is it that you are failing to love?
