What Peter Saw
We are all product of our environment .
tonight as we continue to go through Peter’s life we get a chance to sit by and evaluate what he saw.
Illustration - OBBC I was apart of a vibrant fundamental church that had lots of children and young people.
I saw a pastor that loved his flock
I saw a church where people were saved
I saw a church that put an emphasis on Christian growth.
Peter at this time was an observer of jesus and his ministry.
We learn from those we watch.
Dads ,mothers, bosses, co-workers etc.....
When we deal with someone that comes from a sinful dysfunctional home we must understand what they have seen ...
I He Saw a Dad - Mark 5:21-23
What did Peter see?
He saw a dad pleading for his daughters’ life.
He went to jesus the one that could help.
A very powerful statement was made by ruler!
He was a ruler of the synagogue of all things.
Into the life of Jairus had come a great sorrow: his little girl was desperately ill.
The other Gospels tell us she was twelve years old (; )[1]
A Fathers love – this man went out of his way for his daughter.
He publicly confronted Jesus and was willing to lay down his preconceived ideas he had about Christ.
When our children hurt we hurt:
A father hurts when his child hurts …..
How do we express a fathers love ?
Peter saw an example of a fathers love.

II He saw a Delay
Mark 5:24-
Peter learned something that day by watching the Lord.
The desperate father request was delayed.
It was not necessarily Jesus getting side tracked - it was part of God’s plan to allow the girl to die so there would be no question on who would get the glory for the healing ‘

A man, toolbox in hand, rang the doorbell.
“Good morning, ma’am, I’m the plumber.
I’ve come to fix the pipe.”
“But I didn’t call a plumber.”
“You didn’t?
Aren’t you Mrs. Foster?”
“No, she moved away a year ago.”
“How do you like that?
They call for a plumber, claiming it’s an emergency, and then they move away!”
Sometimes it seems as if God responds to our emergencies like that plumber responded to that call.
We’re in a crisis and we cry out, “Help, God!” Silence.
“God, I need You right now!”
No answer.
“God?
Are You there?”
Nothing.
Delays are a part of God’s plan
III He Saw a Disturbance
what a mess ----
The crying, the noise resulting of death of the young girl.
Death disturbs the normality of life.
Peter is witnessing all this noise.
Trauma -
A select few were to witness the miracle and peter was one of them.
He also saw there doubt and mocking when Jesus said she was only asleep
Peter - sees the wailing, he seeing the mocking.

He also sees the miracle.
When things get as bad as they can be we need to remember that Christ is on the scene.
Christ brings a calm to disturbance.

peter first handed witnessed what the presence of Christ can do in the midst of a disturbance.

IV He Saw the Damsel

He saw miracle ...
This was not he first but it was the first of witnessing someone rise from the dead.
Did he sit back and think - oh my - the son of God...
he gave her something to eat as thought this was a normal happening
