ECLIPSE: Misconceptions of God’s Trustworthiness
Intro/Me: I’m looking forward to this solar eclipse.
We are going to meet a lot of new friends and be able to serve our community servants.
We: When people have a misconception of a situation it is an environment to incubates misunderstandings.
It was long ago that people had a misconception about the earth.
Their concept was that the earth was flat and that the sun rotated around the earth.
Their concept was that as far as they could see had to be the end.
That concept was a misconception.
Conceptions = the way in which something is perceived or regarded

Misconceptions = a view or opinion that is incorrect because it is based on faulty thinking or understanding
We can’t afford to have misconceptions about His character because of something we have heard or experienced.
When we let our misconceptions about God eclipse our view of Him, dimness grows and light fades.
So let’s get to know him better.

God: Remember our God is a relational God.
In relationships when you have a misconception it messes up that relationship.
When we have a misconception about God it hinders our relationship with Him.
God is viewed in various lights.
He is a cosmic kill joy.
The old man upstairs… One misconception about God is that he is a LIFE COACH.
God can coach me to get what I want.
If I don’t get what I want then I wonder if God is TRUSTWORTHY.
GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY
We want our life to be perfect
As we walk this earth we have certain expectations.
When those expectations are not meet we tend to blame God.
When we don’t experience what we were expecting we start to question the trustworthiness of God.

God is good, great and generous - Our conception of God is that He is going to meet all of my expectations.
When He doesn’t we loose confidence in our “life coach.”
Our experience lines up with an unmet expectation and dims the Light of God.

No, you have a misconception of God.
You don’t tell God your expectations and have Him guide you through the experiences of life.

Jesus let’s us know that in this world we will have troubles but He will take the good and the bad and create something amazing if we trust Him.
