God's blessing is inextricably connected with unity and headship. True blessing comes with unity. But true unity must be subjected to God-ordained headship.

Notes & Transcripts

God’s view of unity

Unity expressed in “dwelling together”

Unity and division among God’s people can be fully manifested when they dwell together
Genesis 13.6-7
Genesis 13:6–7 NKJV
Now the land was not able to support them, that they might dwell together, for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together. And there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram’s livestock and the herdsmen of Lot’s livestock. The Canaanites and the Perizzites then dwelt in the land.

Unity expressed in worship

God is most concerned with our gathering together for worship.
The focal point of our unity is when we come together for worship.
1 Corinthians 11.17-19
1 Corinthians 11:17–19 NKJV
Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.

God’s way of blessing

The single, most important requirement for blessing - obedience

Blessing is an element of God’s covenant with His people.
Obedience is expressed in going up to Jerusalem to worship God.

The reward of obedience - Life forevermore

John 10.10
John 10:10 NKJV
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
True blessing flows from God.
True blessing is the reward of our worship of God.
True blessing is two-fold
spiritual blessing - the anointing oil
material blessing - the dew of Hermon
3 John 2
3 John 2 NKJV
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

God-ordained Leadership

The priests help the High Priest minister to God and the people.

Melchizedek - the King-Priest
