Koinonia is basically a bond for a united purpose.
In we see James and John were “bonded”(Koinonia) as business partners in fishing and the united purpose was to catch fish.
The focus of the New Testament is demonstrated in as the “Fellowship (Koinonia) in the Gospel”.
There is a spiritual bond that takes place when you place your trust in Jesus which purpose is to bring you into God’s family (Koinonia) and births a partnership with us and Christ Jesus in his mission to seek and save lost people.Fellowship with God is the Goal

The term Koinonia is also associated with the relationship of Husband and wife.
The Apostle Paul conveniently uses the nature of the relationship of Husband/wife to that of the Church and Jesus.
The term Koinonia is also associated with generous giving of money, which seems to carry with it the nature of caring for one another and shows the nature of the bond that Christians share with one another.
A Fellowship always has “the calling” the “called ones”.
Those that become champions of the cause.
