NIV84In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness.
Have you ever seen how big the sky is? It is huge. And the Bible says something really amazing about the sky.

How many of you have ever seen one of these? (Hold up the measuring up) Where have you seen this? In your kitchen? Have you ever seen your mom pour flour or sugar for a recipe into one these? What is she doing? She is measuring how much is in it? The Bible tells us that when God wanted to measure the oceans, He needed something really big to hold it. A measuring cup would not be big enough. A bath tub would not be big enough. A swimming pool would not even be big enough. So God found the biggest thing He could find- His own hand and He measured the water in the oceans in His hand.
So what does that tell us about God’s hands? They are big. That is right.
How many of you have ever seen one of these? (hold up a tape measure) Have you ever seen your dad use one of these? What is he doing? That’s right. He is measuring how long something is. Let’s see, I am gonna measure my height here. I am 71 inches tall. That means I am 5 feet, 11 inches tall.
