*Opening Scripture*

!
With respect to God, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Pastor, ministers and evangelists, and others present….
I thank God for allowing me to share His Word with you today.
Let us read *Titus 2:11-13*
* *
*2:11  For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,12 instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; 13 looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ*

In a day and time when man tries to understand and rationalize the acts of man throughout the world, man loses his way to God.
More and more, Satan uses the power of CHOICE against man and corrupts the perspective man has of God.
Rather than embracing the victory over death, rather than accepting a life of peace through the gift of the Holy Spirit, rather than going through the doorway given to Man by the death of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, man has begun to place itself above God.
Man, through it’s science, through its pursuit of power, through it’s rationalizing its own existence, man has begun to forget God---to question the need for God, or even worse, look to made God into an image that suits man’s evil nature.
Even in a disaster as large as those like the events in New York, man pats itself on the back for being a part of a country (American), for being resilient, for being a force greater than tragedy.
But the missing link is that God is in control and God alone.
Man did not create man.
Man did not create the Heavens and the Earth.
Man did not create day or night.
In *Genesis 1:1 it states that In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
In the same book of the Word in Genesis 2:7, it reads 7 And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (LIFE!); and man became a living soul.
Not done!
In the book of Genesis 2:21-22 it states 21 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: 22 and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.*
Today, I wish to bring us back to God in a way we do not spend time to understand, to help internalize into the mind and especially the heart and soul.
Today, we get a refresher sermon on our Creator, our Protector, our Master, and our Father, God.
Who is God?

Ever have someone ask you “Who is God?
For those that know God, did you have a spirit-led answer?
They’re maybe some in here right now asking themselves that very question.
Well, for those looking for an answer to give and those looking for an answer for themselves, let’s see what God has to say about this.
No one has seen God except the Son of God who is God.
Many speak of God in the term “who”, but God Himself was very clear in the Word regarding Himself.
Turn with me to *Revelation 1:8.
1:8  I am the Alpha and the Omega, saith the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.
*God is the beginning, the present, and the end.
God created all things and is in all things righteous.
God is Father, Mother, brother, sister, friend, protector, disciplinarian, lover, peacemaker, earth shaker, teacher, and Master.
He is the Almighty.
There is nothing greater.
There is no word higher.
There is no phase to top “ALL” and “MIGHTY”.
In *1 John 4:4 4  Ye are of God, [my] little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world*.
Here God is greater than the world.
We are he little children.
Children don’t know everything and need guidance, protection and discipline.
We are of God.
We belong to him.
Turn with me to* Matthew 22:32 32  I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
God is not [the God] of the dead, but of the living.
*God is the God of all, the one true God, the God of the living---the eternal living.

What is God?
* *
We feel okay about "who” God is, but now, let’s share the Word on “what” God is.
First in John 4:24 24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
God is never seen, but God’s power is felt and experienced.
We worship God by faith, not by sight, and through the Holy Spirit which is God sent by God, God is with those who accepted His son Jesus and believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.
What else is God?
Let’s look at John 1:1 1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The Word, the very bread we break here today, is God.
God was the beginning, so makes perfect sense that the Word, which is God, was there also.
Let’s go a little deeper.
In 1 Corinthians 4:20 20  For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
God is power and His kingdom is power.
Lets turn to Hebrews 12:29 29  for our God is a consuming fire.
If God’s Holy Spirit lives in you, you cannot be the same!
God consumes your heart, your thoughts, your very nature to where you are a changed creature----a new creature.
More? 1 John 4:7 says 7  Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is begotten of God, and knoweth God.
God is LOVE and if you love as God loves, you are of God.
What else is God?
In Ephesians 4:6 6  one God and Father of all, who is over all, and through all, and in all.
God is in all, father of all, God of all.
Finally, in
*Exodus 3:14 14  And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
*God states “I AM THAT I AM” and tells Moses to say, “I AM” sent him.
* *
*Why God?*
It just keeps getting better with God.
We heard about “who” and “What”, now we get the most wonderful and blessed “Why”.
God loves us so much, He sent Jesus, His Son, as a sacrifice so we would have the chance at the tree of life.
God loves us so much that His forgiveness endures.
In *Matthew 19:26 26  And Jesus looking upon [them] said to them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
*How many times have you heard all things being possible?
In God, with God, all things are.
Why God?
In *1 Timothy 4:4 4  For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it be received with thanksgiving.
*As a child of God, we are perfect in His eyes and will not be rejected.
In *Ephesians 6:11 11  Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.*
You get armor and you will be able to stand against the Devil!
Only God can do that for you!
A little further in *Ephesians 6:13 13  Wherefore take up the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.
*You have weapons to go to war against evil!
Let me get me get two other pieces of battle gear in by looking at *Ephesians 6:17 17  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: *We have salvation, eternal life and victory already acquired, along with a sword, the SWORD, which is the Word of God!

Why God?
In Romans 8:31 31  What then shall we say to these things?
If God [is] for us, who [is] against us?
The battle is God’s and the victory is ours with God! Also in *Romans 13:1 1  Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of God; and the [powers] that be are ordained of God.
*No power but of God and any power given is ordained by God.
God is the only one to give power and have all power.
In *Romans 8:14 14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
*We become family!
Sons and daughters of God is a great thing!
Why God? Big big reason, in Romans 10:9 9  because if thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus [as] Lord, and shalt believe in thy heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved: What is referred to as the sinners prayer, those who accept salvation are saved from eternal death and now get eternal life with God in the kingdom of God.
There is so much more but one more----in 2 Corinthians 2:12 12  But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God.
The Holy Spirit dwells in the believer and we can discern those things not of God from those of God.

Conclude
!
!
There is so much I could continue with from the Word, but I will conclude by saying that it does not get better than being with God, of God, for God.
On those days when we are not feeling our best, things are not going our way, feeling alone, losing hope, we must search our hearts and pray to remember who loves us, what a God we serve, and why it is so wondrous to be with God and for God and give Him the glory and the praise.
