The Art of Giving

Joke - An 80 year-old woman was recently married to her 4th husband. A reporter questioned the occupation of her newly acquired husband. She replied that he owned a funeral home. Curious about the other husbands, the reporter also asked about their occupations. The woman paused for a while and stated that her first husband was a banker. The second one she was madly in love with and he was a circus master. The third one was a minister. Puzzled by her answers, he replied, “None of these people have anything in common! Why did you marry these?” She stated that she married number one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go.
Review from last week - Go over key points
Last week we talked about how God does need our help and how he uses our talents, the time he gives us and the material possessions as well.
Jesus asked the man to do something humanly impossible but he could’ve achieved it with spiritually with the help of the Lord.
Jesus was allowing the man to be used by God for the work of God.
God will have no divided allegiances, He will have all of us or he will not have any of us.
God’s desires is for you to be with and not without but you must learn to let go and let God.
Commentary - The Dead Sea’s dry land is the lowest point on earth, the shoreline of the Dead Sea at 1300 feet below sea level.  That the lake is at the lowest point means that water does not drain from this lake. It carries an appropriate name because its high mineral content allows nothing to live in its waters. So years I heard sermons talking about how the dead sea gave nothing back, a great sermon story except for only one problem it does give something back and actually quite a bit.
