Sermon Tone Analysis

INTRO: “I’ll work hard to communicate, if you work hard to understand.”

Think over these things.

God given me a message I’m excited Secret, only I know.

A secret that doesn’t change because size of the crowd A secret that doesn’t change because of WHO is in the crowd This secret is for EVERYBODY and that’s why it’s so exciting.

Man God is good.

I’m gonna use an ILLUSTRATION - Join your family at the dinner table.

Phone in your room.

Don’t be kicking your sibling underneath the table.

Don’t be trying to watch the tv in the living room.

Be present with your family.

We’re excited about this Word and message, but sometimes others aren’t excited.

Idk your life and what goes on at home.

Don’t know if you talk about church, Jesus, the Bible with friends or, snapchat it, Instagram it, text it.

Idk if you ever read the Bible or how much you read so….

If this is the only time you’re in the Bible this week, that means we gotta work EXTRA hard to make sure you understand the message God has for us.

Here’s what I need Your mind Your eyes Your ears I’m cool with you thinking (don’t hurt yourself) but be thinking about What the Scripture says What we’re talking about What God might be showing you NOT ABOUT Who’s texting me, Snapchatting me, or what’s so and so thinking about.

Said these things that in me you may have peace.

Peace means...

Jesus’ twist on the word peace…typically outward like what we’re about to read, Jesus revealing it inward.

In the Old Testament....this word ran deep.

Means Shalom.

It’s a reference back to the Davidic times.

When this word was read…here’s what they might’ve heard:

NOBODY LIKES TO BE LEFT OUT OF A JOKE

Clarity not Confusion.

Calm not Chaotic.

Collected not Scattered.

In the world you will have tribulation.

Tribulation means...

Trouble that inflicts distress.

Oppression - Civil Rights Movement, Holocaust (Oppressed because of specific reason like you’re black or a jew).

Jesus revealing we will have tribulation and be oppressed because of our belief and here’s why:

But take heart; I have overcome the world.
