Filled with the Holy Spirit
In the Old Testament we see where the Holy Spirit Inspired people but it isn’t until the New Testament at the day of Pentecost that we see the Holy Spirit Indwelling people.
A. The Spirit Inspired Bezalel’s Creativity ().
we see Bezalel was filled/inspired to build the furniture for the tabernacle.
31 The LORD said to Moses, 2 “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship, 4 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, 5 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, to work in every craft
B. The Spirit Was the Source of Samson’s Strength (; , ; ; ).
24 And the woman bore a son and called his name Samson.
And the young man grew, and the LORD blessed him.
25 And the Spirit of the LORD began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
A. The Spirit Inspired Bezalel’s Creativity ().
6 Then the Spirit of the LORD rushed upon him, and although he had nothing in his hand, he tore the lion in pieces as one tears a young goat.

II.
The Holy Spirit’s Work Today
B. The Spirit Indwells You So You Can Be Empowered to Live a Holy Life (, , ; ).
Romans 8
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do.
By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace.
7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.
8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Indwelt is different than inspired
4 And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
The Ascension
6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Those who have accepted Christ as their Savior are immediately “Baptized by the Spirit”.
We are indwelt by the spirit where those in the old testament were only inspired.
We cannot lose the Holy Spirit if we are saved like the people in the old testament.
Paul gives us some more information about the Spirit in Ephesians.
