We Endure Because Jesus Saved Us (3-5)
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
Now we live with great expectation, 4 and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.
1 Pe 1:3–5.
Explanation:
Verse 3 begin with the statement from Peter to “Praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Why?
He has caused us to be born again, to be a new creation.
Caused to be born again, made a new creation.
When we believe what Christ has done for us, repent of our sins, our disobedience to God, and begin to follow Christ we, in a sense, are reborn.
This is a new spiritual birth
To be born is to enter into a new world, we now have a new spiritual world.
Our physical birth will bring us into a world that will perish, our spiritual birth brings us into a spiritual world filled with Hope.
As having been born again we have a inheritance forever in heaven
Just like being born into a family, we are also born into something when we become believers.
Pure, undefiled, and out of the reach of decay forever.
1st a new living hope
Not only has God saved us, he will protect us as well.
These believers would feel hopeless if they were displaced, persecuted, and being taken advantage of.
Through your faith and God’s power they will reach salvation.
Peter wants them to remember the hope that is in Christ
Being the saving of our souls at the end of our lives, or when Jesus comes back.
Hope that we are forgiven and delighted in.
Hope that this broken world will one day be restored.
Hope for a new heaven and new earth where sin and pain are no more.
Hope that we will be saved at the time of judgement from God.
Although things might have been tough for them, it was worth it cause of so much to hope in!
Born into a new inheritance.
For many hearing this letter it is possible they left their homeland, where they would have inherited the family land and worked it, now they have nothing.
Peter is telling them that they have a new inheritance
Imperishable- Freedom from death and decay
Undefiled- free from uncleanliness or impurity
Unfading- free from the result of time.
Lastly, God will guard and protect them until their hope is sight and they get the inheritance.
Those reading might not think they can deal with the persecutions and strife that has come.
However, God promises to protect them
The faith in Christ that brings this junk is the same one that will bring them through it.
If they continue to have faith in God it is worth it
They will be saved from judgment, and declared innocent and accepted by God.

We Endure Because Jesus Gives Us Joy (6-8)
6 So be truly glad.
There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while.
7 These trials will show that your faith is genuine.
It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold.
So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.
8 You love him even though you have never seen him.
Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. 9 The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
