Over the next few weeks we will take an in-depth look at these 8 characteristics or attributes.

In a world corrupt, the solution of Christ has been given.

With that solution comes responsibility to the believer, peter says, "having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.

For this very reason, make every effort to..." (2 peter 1:4-5, ESV).

This series takes an in-depth look at "every effort" we are to make as those who have been called by God's glory having escaped the corruption of this world.

All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”

Isn't that Great, We will be given everything if we just fall and worship.

Isn't that what he is always wanted, our worship?

That sounds Great until the verse is completed

10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan!

For it is written,

“ ‘You shall worship the Lord your God

and him only shall you serve.’

”

It is a Writing From Simon Peter to those who have obtained Faith

To those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ

The same way this series is for those who have already obtained faith.

Written As a Warning of dangers from within the Church.

The First Epistle

Written as a warning of dangers outside the church

the readers of the first letter were confused and persecuted because of their faith.

Peter writes the first Epistle as a beacon of hope

A call to live holy in the result of persecution

the trial of the fire will produce purities

The Primary Message

Trust in the Lord

Live in Obedience no matter the circumstances

keep your hope fixed on God’s ultimate promise of deliverance.

Suffering is to be expected though only temporary

there are blessings for those who remain steadfast in the trials.

Summary Verse

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.

14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler.

16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name

The Second Epistle

This letter is more of an internal dangers creeping into the church.

The Letter is 3 chapters and really broken into 3 parts.

Chapter One: deals with living Godly.

The qualities that are expected from those who are Christians.

Chapter two: Warns of False prophets and teachers that have come into the church.

But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

3. Chapter Three: The Day Of the Lord Will Come.

, 2 that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles, 3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires.

4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming?

For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.

Peter writes in a time of persecution and deception, both inside and outside the church.

Written to those who are inside the “Church” at that Time

These letters were circulated through the early church.

In the first 11 verses of Second Peter we are given 8 attributes that we are to “ Make every Effort to respond to God’s Promises”.

What Is Liberty -

Simply Freedom

It Has a purpose

with that freedom and purpose comes a responsibility

We have been liberated from Sin and its end results.

Our Liberty is within the confinements of Christ, we are expected to live within those Confinements.

we have liberty IN CHRIST

we are expected to live Godly.

This is why God has Given us Divine power!

And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises.

These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

Notice the word ENABLE

Allow you to ESCAPE the Worlds Corruption, Not JUMP IN!

Having Escaped… For This Very Reason

Of the 8 Attributes today we are going to look at the first two.

Faith and Virtue.

Supplement needs to be defined, because these attributes hang off of this word
