Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), 10 and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord.

11 Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.

12 For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret.

13 But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, 14 for anything that becomes visible is light.

Where does wisdom come from?

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Wisdom is relational, not informational.

And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold.

Wise people manage time with

wilfulness is folly, wisdom is to be found in God’s will and nowhere else.

we shall not find his ‘particular’ will in Scripture.

To be sure, we shall find general principles in Scripture to guide us, but detailed decisions have to be made after careful thought and prayer and the seeking of advice from mature and experienced believers.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Good (Moral) , Acceptable (well pleasing) , and Perfect ( Completing what was assigned).

We shall not find his acceptable and perfect will in Scripture.

We can find the good will (general principles) in Scripture to guide us, but detailed decisions about the acceptable and perfect will have to be made after careful thought and prayer and the seeking of advice from mature and experienced believers.

What does Alcohol and the Holy Spirit have in common?

Sources of bravery and happiness

Alcohol is a depressant.

Wall flowers turn into Saturday Night Fever.

Happy Hour and grabbing a few drinks after work.

They are not filled with wine, but the Spirit.

Singing songs, giving thanks, and submission are the overflow of the Spirit-filled life.

Under the influence of alcohol we lose control.

Under the influence of the Holy Spirit we do not lose control; we gain it.

Alcohol hides reality allowing us to forget our problems.

The Holy Spirit opens us up to the greater reality of what is available now in Christ.

As children of light, what are you hiding from?

The greatest wisdom ever revealed to us is the Love and unshakable acceptance God has for you because of the sacrifice of Jesus.

That revelation removes all fear and allows us to let the Holy Spirit shine his light into the darkest places of our hearts.
