There is no freedom apart from Christ

John 8:31 NASB95
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
John 8:
John 8:34–36 NASB95
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
Romans
Romans 6:15–16 NASB95
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
John Quincy Adams

In the chain of human events, the birthday of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birthday of the Savior. The Declaration of Independence laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

Not only is our Nation founded and dependent on who Jesus is, but the Bible tells us that our individual freedom is dependent on Christ.
John 8:31 NASB95
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
The Jews protested that they were never slaves. That they had been free from Birth.
Some of you may be thinking the same thing.
John 8:
John 8:34–36 NASB95
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin. “The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son does remain forever. “So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.
This is why we as Christians should not and cannot judge folks that are not Christians.

You will either serve sin or serve Christ

Romans 6
Romans 6:16–18 NASB95
Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Romans 6:18 NASB95
and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Bond Servant
Exodus 21:5–6 NASB95
“But if the slave plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife and my children; I will not go out as a free man,’ then his master shall bring him to God, then he shall bring him to the door or the doorpost. And his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him permanently.
Exodus
Have you ever met anyone that had the opportunity to leave a job for better money but stayed?

Freedom not received is lost

Galatians 5:1 NASB95
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
What follows is an argument that Paul makes to the Jews wanting to add to Christ’s work.
Have you ever felt that being a Christian was all about rules you had to follow?.

Galatians 5:
Galatians 5:13–14 NASB95
For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
