Just Eat It! Week 1
Jr. High AM Series // July 2017
Series’ Purpose: This series is designed to point the teens to finding life by feeding on Jesus.
Base Scripture:
You might say, “Wait a minute, did Jesus just say to feed on Him?” Yup, that’s exactly what He said!
In fact, Jesus said that this is the way to partake of life; it’s to partake of Him.
Both Christians and non-Christians alike seek to find things such as happiness, fulfillment, and meaning.
The truth of the matter is that these things, which you can sum up with the word life, can only be found in Christ.
Not only will they be found in Christ but Jesus takes us a step further when he tells us that in order to obtain this life he speaks of, you will have to not only know about Him but actually partake of Him.
See, Jesus really is the bread of life!

Have you ever stopped and considered what life is all about?
Maybe you took a time out and just thought about what I’ll call the “Circle of life” if you will.
One day you’re born, then you learn how to walk and talk, then you go to school and learn math, English, science and before you know it you graduate high school as an 18 year old adult.
Then you go to college or get a job, then you eventually get married and have children, then you grow older and retire and watch your children follow in the same footsteps and then one day you die.
I’ve had friends say to me, “That’s kind of depressing, is that all there is to life?”
Well, I’ve got good news and bad news.
Unfortunately, that is all there is to life if you don’t have Jesus.
If you have Jesus and feed on Him then you’ve got every reason to live and not just live but have true life living on the inside of you!
That means, true happiness, which I like to call joy, true fulfillment and true meaning!
The best part of it all is that at the end of life here on the earth, the life that Jesus gives to those who feed on Him will never die.
That means you’ll continue living right on into eternity.
How wonderful is that?
That’s amazing!
Today I want to take a closer look at some things Jesus says about partaking of Him so we can get a better understanding of what exactly Jesus expects of us and how to obtain the life He speaks of.
Points
Week #1 | Body & Blood - “Eat my flesh, drink my blood”
Wut… I know what you’re thinking already, “Are we to be vampires or Zombies?” No!! Let’s look at how Jesus explains it.
How many of you would agree that this is a hard saying?
Yeah, some of you are thinking to yourself, “Did Jesus really just say that?”
He did.
Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
“Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
“For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed.
This isn’t literal tho… we gotta look past the surface of this saying of His you will find food for your heart and food for your soul and this food will result in life!
How many of you would agree that this is a hard saying?
Yeah, some of you are thinking to yourself, “Did Jesus really just say that?”
He did.
However, if you can look past the surface of this saying of His you will find food for your heart and food for your soul and this food will result in life!
Jesus is actually talking about His death on the cross where the Bible teaches us that His body (flesh) was broken and His blood was shed.
So when Jesus talks about eating His flesh and drinking His blood, He is talking about accepting His sacrifice for yourself and taking it into your life as you would with food.

EX: We only eat food that looks & smells good, right?
It’s “acceptable”
You accept what foods taste good to you.
If you don’t like the taste, chances are, you’re not forcing yourself to eat it yet at this age.
Then as you get older to begin to learn and realize what things are healthy for you.
See, just because something tastes good doesn’t mean that it’s good for you… I could use an Amen right there lol.
After you swallowed your food, your body then has to deal with the contents and makeup of the food you just ate.
Much of what you ate is then distributed to your body and that’s where we came up with the saying, you are what you eat!
.
Let’s think about this for a moment.
As younger people what kinds of foods have you determined acceptable?
Boba, In N Out, pizza, ice cream and list goes on.
Ok, let me help you by summing them all up.

You are what you eat! It’s the fuel that runs out lives and even feelings!
You are what you eat! It’s the fuel that runs out lives and even feelings!
Many people have suffered physically because of all the junk food they’ve eaten over the course of their lives.
When Doctor’s have to get involved to help people with health issues they find out very quickly what kind of eating habits people have had.
Biopsy’s have been done on people who have passed away and they have found that people who’ve eaten lots of greasy foods literally their entire insides are lined with grease.
Stomach, veins and all!
That’s where the saying came about, “You are what you eat.” Literally you’ll become a grease ball if that’s all you eat.
By accepting.eating
BAD FOOD people get sick, diseased and DIE
Literally you’ll become a grease ball if that’s all you eat.
Well, it’s the same thing spiritually, you will become what you accept and digest.
You are what you eat!
This is why Jesus tells us to eat His flesh and drink His blood.
He is telling us to accept His sacrifice on the cross, digest it and allow it to make the change it wants to make in you.
When you eat the necessary vitamins, vegetables and fruits eat day, you will become healthy and enjoy life to its full.
When you eat poorly, you become unhealthy and eventually it leads to a deterioration of your body and life.

So, why His flesh and why His blood?
Let’s look at a few verses:
Jesus’ Body Gives… (Peace & Access/Closeness)
a. Peace Between Me/You and God –
And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—
Hey did you know that where there was once turmoil and hostility between you and God because of sin that now because the body of Jesus was broken there is peace!
His body was BROKEN so we could be RENEWED
