Parable of the Sower (Soils)
, ; ,
What is a Parable?
A story that is true to life, that teaches a spiritual truth.
To Grow One Must Sow
- And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow
- The seed is the word of God
Good Fruit Needs Good Root
- And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
- Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved
- Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
There are many “nots” in the devil’s tail…
- And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die
- Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
- They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Jms.
1:13-15- Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death
- Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended
This heart knows and accepts the truth, however is not committed to it.
Persecution, trials, & tribulations destroys this mans shallow faith, instead of strengthening it!
- And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
- And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection
- Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward
- But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
- But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
How is Your Heart?
- Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
- Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
