INTRODUCTION:

Each piece of the Armor of God is important.
A. The whole armor is needed to fight the spiritual war.
B. The Sword of the Spirit is an important part of the Armor of God.

The rest of the armor protects you so that you can use the Sword, but the Sword both protects you and the the ones whom it is your aim to protect.
A. If you are wearing the Armor of God, you are protected because God’s Armor is impenetrable and therefore, you should be bold to go into war and fight.
B. This is where the Sword comes into play, because the war needs to be fought.

There are those who need to be protected and those who need to be saved.
2. Pure and undefiled religion before God (paraphrasing): ‘Protect the ones who cannot protect themselves.’
C. Ask yourself three questions:
1. Do you have the Sword available to use?
2. Do you know how to use the Sword?
A. Ask yourself three more questions to determine if you know how to use the Sword.
1. Are you willing to learn how to use the Sword properly?
2. Are you willing to teach others to use the Sword properly?
3. Are you willing to be an example of how to use the Sword properly?
A. This is our lesson for today.
3. Will you survive the war?
A. This will be the lesson for next week.

What does it mean to be willing to be an example?
A. People all over the world call themselves Christians, but does that make it true?
B. The members of the Lord’s church at Antioch in were called Christians by the people of the area because of their example.
C. What does it mean to be a Christian?
1.
In the disciples were called Christians.
2. What is a disciple?
A follower of someone’s teachings.
A. This was being more than just a student; it was being an adherent.

3. Whose disciples were called Christians in ?
Acts 11.23
A. It was the disciples of the Lord.
4. What makes a disciple of the Lord?
A. One who keeps the words of Christ.
B. One who loves.

B. It is because when a light shines forth, it is seen.

It is possible to cover your light with a basket where it is not seen.
A. When a disciple of Christ sins, he or she covers their light with a basket.
John 8.
And when that light is covered, it matters not how much we call ourselves Christian, because we are not.

2. A disciple of Christ cannot cover his light, walk in darkness, and pretend that a command does not exist.
CONCLUSION:
1. Are you willing to be an example of how to use the Sword properly?
A. Do you call yourself Christian, or do the people around you see your light and recognize you as such?
B. Does Jesus recognize you as His disciple?

If you have not been baptized into Christ, he does not recognize you as His disciple.

2. If you have been baptized into Christ and have not been following His Word, then Christ does not recognize you as His disciple.
2. If you are willing to do these three things, then you know how to use the Sword.
A. Learn how to use the Sword properly.
B. Teach others to use the Sword properly.
C. Be an example of how to use the Sword properly.
