· Today is Father’s day,
Father’s Day 2017
June 18th 2017
· Today is Father’s day,
· A day to recognize the role father’s play in our lives.
· I’m fully aware that father’s day can mean different things to different people
· If you have a good relationship with your father, today is a day of celebration
· If you have a jaded relationship, today can be a day of reminder of difficult situations
· If your father has passed on, today can be a day of sorrow and grief
· Our relationship with our earthly father can either help or hinder the way we approach our heavenly Father
· If your relationship with your earthly father brings up good thoughts, you will have a much easier time approaching abba father
· However if your earthly father was mean or distant, it can distort your view of God
· Let me assure you, no matter what type of relationship you had with your earthly father,
· Your heavenly father desires to have the ultimate relationship with you!
· He gave us the Family unit so we can better understand the type of relationship we have.
· It is our job as Dad’s to prepare our children to help them understand the type of relationship God wants to have with them.
· So dads we have an impossible mission.
· Yes we have the perfect example of what a father is meant to be, in our heavenly father.
· If we compare ourselves to Him, we will always see ourselves as a failure
· should recognize that we are not perfect, and won’t be on this side of heaven, it might just allow us to learn from the example He set forth
· So Today I want to look at 9 things my heavenly father taught me about being a Dad
But before we get into that let’s watch a video on fatherhood
Video Fatherhood-Skit Guys HD 5:02
· I have been blessed to be a father for over 18 years now, besides being a husband, it is my greatest joy
· I have had the opportunity to see my kids grow from little babies who could do nothing for themselves, to independent individuals who are ready to take on the world!
There’s no greater joy than to see your kids grow up.
It happens so gradually that as a parent you don’t always recognise the changes.
but one day you realize your kids are adults and your wondering where the time went!
For a long time i’ve been a avid videographer, even before the days of smart phones
recently as a family we started watching some of the video’s we took when they were kids,
I found a real gem, that I did not even know existed. The kids took over the camera without me even knowing,
10 years later we watched it, and it shows you how much things change

Kids are awesome.
I love how each kid has their own personality
A mix of me, my wife, and every other influence
Yes as a Dad, I made mistakes along the way
I still make mistakes
But it is my goal as a Father to ensure my kids go father and deeper than I will ever go
To help them reach the Destiny God has laid before them.
In order for me to do this, I need to learn what makes a good father

Parables of Jesus The Prodigal Son 5:32
Luke 15
· I have had the opportunity to see my kids grow from little babies who could do nothing for themselves, to independent individuals who are ready to take on the world!
Luke 15:11–32 NASB95
And He said, “A man had two sons. “The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.’ So he divided his wealth between them. “And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living. “Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished. “So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. “And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him. “But when he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! ‘I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.” ’ “So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. “And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate. “Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. “And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be. “And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him back safe and sound.’ “But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him. “But he answered and said to his father, ‘Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends; but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’ “And he said to him, ‘Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. ‘But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.’ ”
