Introduction

DJ Khaled describes people who do do not want you to succeed as “they”. He even states that we should stay away from the “they”. Often times when people are jealous of us it can be hard to tell. Typically a jealous person can attempt to get close to you just to get a front row seat at your downfall. This type of relationship can lead to resentment and strife. They pose to be cheerleaders of your success meanwhile praying for your downfall.
Oftentimes their resentment and hate have nothing to do with you. Their jealously has everything to do with the fact that “they” do not have the compass to trust God to bless them with their own lane of success.
Here we have David and Saul. David a shepherd boy achieved the success of defeating Goliath despite the refusal of all conventional methods given to David by Saul.
DJ Khaled describes people who do do not want you to succeed
David is now esteemed as the hero and Saul is in second place. What enraged Saul’s jealousy even more was the fact that David was entreated upon victory with dancing and singing, basically a modern day parade on behalf of David and Saul did not like it. The lesson here is the thin line between love and hate. There is such a close connection between jealousy and murder to the point that at the point that David had the chance to minister to Saul he had attempted to murder him twice.
The issue is the fact that “they” know deep down inside that everything is going right for you and nothing is going right for them in their own eyes. These individuals will attempt to minimize your efforts and influence and become enraged each time they fail and God prompts you to more success.

Don’t Hate Because I was Able to Do Something You Were Afraid to Do.

Verse 6 and 7 states “6 As they were coming home, when David returned from striking down the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with songs of joy, and with musical instruments. 7 And the women sang to one another as they celebrated, “Saul has struck down his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”
David was celebrated because he saved the nation by defeating Goliath.
“Saul has struck down his thousands,
and David his ten thousands.”
We all need a David because there are some Goliath’s in our life that we just do not have the skill set to conquer.
Thank God for what he has allowed you to accomplish. Be yourself, and do you. We do not have time to jealous of someone else because they are doing something God did not allow us to do.

Everyone Beside You is Not Happy For You.

The problem was not David’s stat sheet, the problem was David was taking influence from Saul. A Saul that initially disobeyed God in the first place.
Your influence and your calling hangs in the balance of obedience.
“And Samuel said to Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint you king over his people of Israel, now therefore listen to the words of the Lord.
Samuel offers some advice with the anointing. God has called you as long as you obey him.
Anointing comes with great responsibility. In verse 24 Saul apologizes for his sin but we have to understand that with great calling comes great responsibility.
Saul was not upset with David, Saul was really upset at the fact that his reign was coming to an end. This is why we have to trust in God. Understand something, the Hebrew women as a whole committed a great indiscretion praising David instead of Saul. No matter who is the victor in the war, the king is suppose to get the praise but God put the praise to be focused on a different subject this time.
People next to you in life are upset with you more so than they are upset at the fact that God is working in you and they cannot do anything about it.
Eventually “they” will distance themselves from you. In verse 14 of chapter of 18 the bible says “So Saul removed him from his presence and made him a commander of a thousand”.
What they does not understand is the fact that no matter what job they think they are giving you the success is determined by God.
No matter what people try to do to you, be humble. He has brought down rulers from their thrones. And has exalted those who were humble.

The Only One You Owe is God

Saul thought he was doing David a favor in hopes David would serve him instead of God. (Gave him an army of a thousand, David still served God).
Saul gave him his daughter in hopes it would trip him up, it led to God working through David’s wife to escape Saul another time. Verse 25-29, understand that Saul commits another sin by giving David Michal instead of Merab.
Saul attempted to sabotage David but God esteemed him even hire. No matter how jealous they are of you, they recognize the God in you and around you.
“David had more success than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was highly esteemed.
“They” will do things for you, attempting to trap you into this place of indebtedness, but you do not owe anyone but God.
The providence of God was in favor of David, when God is in the plan no one can stop it. The setting may change the job may change but the triumph will be the same.
People will do for you in hopes that what they have done for you will exploit you, but when you are focused on God it there is no level of exploitation

Lessons Learned From They

If we are jealous of someone today, we need to rid ourselves of that jealousy. You are destroying yourself and missing out on what you can do for God because you are worried about what you cannot do rather than what God initially anointed you to do.
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.
Understand actions of kindness and love do not matter if anger is in your heart. In this text that word angry means to be indignant, wrathful and insanely motivated to destroy the person.
Every minute you spend in a jealous stupor you are susceptible to the irrational out pour of anger.
Everybody has a “they”. Just like David had Saul, Jesus had a Judas. Understand that just because they are in your circle does not mean they are there to strengthen your circle, sometimes they are there to sabotage the circle.
