Leonardo de Vinci (1452-1519) – One of the most famous artists that has ever lived. Leonardo de Vinci started out as an apprentice painter! He went on to paint many world famous pieces, including the Mona Lisa, which is often cited as the most famous painting in the world.
Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) – One of the ‘Founding Fathers’ of the United States and often referred to as the ‘First American’. At the age of twelve he became a printing apprentice to his older brother, James.
Vincent Van Gough (1853-1890) – Worked as an apprentice art dealer with a group called Goupil and Cie. Van Gough worked for the company for a few years before being fired in 1876.
Alexander McQueen (1969-2010) – The legendary fashion designer started out his career as an apprentice tailor! He went on to become a household name and won ‘British Designer of The Year’ on multiple occasions.
Jamie Oliver - Started out as a catering apprentice and worked his way up to opening his own chain of restaurants and being introduced into the culinary hall of fame.

Follow me. - Peter, Andrew, James, John
At once they left their nets and followed him.
Levi - follow me. Walked away from a lucrative job as tax collector.
Simon the zealot. Judas the businessman.
Disciples are people who:
follow Jesus,
learn from Him,
perpetuate His legacy!
These disciples were common people with real lives.
Common people hanging out with Jesus turned the whole world upside down

The Buzz
Jesus’ presence created a buzz.
John was willing to lose followers, pointing them to Jesus.
Andrew couldn’t let his brother miss out on the Messiah.
Philip found Nathaniel and brought him to Jesus.
Have you heard the buzz about Jesus?
Is the Jesus you’ve found so amazing that you can’t help but bring other people to him?

Jesus didn’t boast. He said, “Come and see.” v. 39
Philip didn’t argue. He said, “Come and see.” v. 46
Are we coming to see Jesus?
Are we inviting others to come and see Jesus?
What They Saw
What They Saw
The more they looked, the more they saw:
First they saw a rabbi or teacher. v. 38
Andrew saw the Messiah. v. 41
Philip saw The One. v. 45
Nathaniel saw the Son of God, the King of Israel. v. 49
Jesus wants us to see him as the way to the Father. v. 51
What do you see when you look at Jesus?

Jesus verbally called Philip.
The others heard the call in their hearts.
God issues the call to all who thirst for something more.
How have you felt God’s call to discipleship?

I am thirsting for something more in my life and I want to start the adventure of discipleship.
I will “come and see” Jesus this week, spending ten extra minutes per day getting to know Him better.
I want others to “come and see” Jesus through the way I treat them.
I would like to invite a friend to “come and see” Jesus with me at church in the next few weeks.
