Tyler James was just a baby when his daddy died in Nam. He was raised by a sister and a hard working mom. He was raised to love his country, and every time he saw the flag. He thought of his father, and how he gave all that he had. When Tyler finished high school he found a good job. He helped his mom and sister, because he knew that times were hard. Little did they know the world was to change, Yeah, buildings came down by men in hijacked planes. Tyler hugged his mom and sister and headed out the door. His country would respond, he knew there would be war. He enlisted in the service, they made him a strong man, after basic training, he was sent to a foreign land. Oh, he served with the bravest. They were proud and they stood tall. Some of them had fathers whose names are on the wall. After many months of battle Tyler's mother got the call, Tyler James, her only son, took his final fall. On a hillside in the country, now lies Tyler James. And his mother spoke the words, engraved beneath his name. HE WAS PROUD OF HIS COUNTRY HE WOULD FIGHT UNTIL WE WON. HE WAS KILLED IN BATTLE, LIKE FATHER LIKE SON. Tyler James was just a baby, when his daddy died in Nam.

There have been many wars throughout the history of our nation. It may surprise you to discover the numbers of those lost in battle.

World War II- 407,316

Vietnam War- 58,098

While we should never forget those who have made a sacrifice for the freedom’s afforded to us in this great nation, we must also remember that there is yet another War taking place… It’s crossed a whole new threshold, it has broken another barrier…spiritual warfare has drastically crossed from the spiritual realm into the physical realm. It has appeared in organizations such as ISIS or the Al-Qaeda… terrorizing and killing innocent people for the cause of evil. It has infiltrated our great nation and is causing devastating harm on several fronts…battles are being lost daily, as this War claims victims on a daily basis.
Our freedom has come at a great cost. Our freedom as a nation has been achieved by both the blessing of God and the lives of those who fought each war.
Our freedom as believers has come at a great cost…when Jesus Christ raised His hands and said “it is finished.”
Freedom is never free. Turn with me in honor of the reading of God’s Word as we read . (Pray)
Joshua’s inheritance, Israel’s inheritance had been realized…for Israel, unfortunately they felt the journey was over. They had entered the promised land…and all they had to do was remember. The book of Joshua tells us that God defeated the enemies at the hands of Israel, and the only way they had arrived was because God is faithful. 12 tribes received their land…now, Joshua is old, he is nearing the end of his journey, and he is preparing the people.
A parallel could easily be made to the church, to America…we received, we were blessed, and we became complacent…so much so that we have lost our way long enough to see what was once a superior Christian nation become a playground for evil doers.
3 Things that we must remember if we are to be great again.
Love the Lord your God---love is a verb, not a vocation.
Hold Fast to Him— Cling to…cleave to, stick to…never let go
Serve Him—toil, work, accomplish, bring honour to Him with all your heart soul mind and strength.
