22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law

Galatians 5:22–23 NLT
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
We must be able to discern between what is truth and what we feel. Otherwise we will mistake feelings for truth.
When it comes to controlling our emotions or placing our thoughts and feelings under the submission of the Holy Spirit, we actually have a choice. That’s what the bible means when it says to take every thought captive.
There is a power struggle within us that resists what the Holy Spirit wants to do in our lives
Romans 7:24 NLT
Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death?
That’s why we need to water the Spirit and not the flesh.
We are responsible to cultivate and develop the discernment necessary to identify thoughts and feelings
What am I feeling?

Why am I feeling that?

Ephesians 6:10–18 NLT
A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Ephesians 6 NLT
Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. “Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, “things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.” Fathers,* do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. Masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Don’t threaten them; remember, you both have the same Master in heaven, and he has no favorites. And pray for me, too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God’s ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should. To bring you up to date, Tychicus will give you a full report about what I am doing and how I am getting along. He is a beloved brother and faithful helper in the Lord’s work. I have sent him to you for this very purpose—to let you know how we are doing and to encourage you. Peace be with you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.

Our fight is not in the natural but the supernatural and unseen
“Fiery Darts”
1 Corinthians
1 Corinthians 10:10 NLT
And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.
Matthew 12:33–37 NLT
“A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, its fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, its fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgment day for every idle word you speak. The words you say will either acquit you or condemn you.”
Matthew 12:
Romans 12:1–2 NLT
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12

Versatility

What’s the difference: Identity: Child of God—Never Changes Calling: Mission of God—Never Changes (no matter the context) Assignment: The present context where identity/calling are expressed May not ‘FIT’ your gift or passion for a season Genuine Love for People
Become a Utility Player
As a church we talk alot about our fit. We want people to operate in their gifting. But we are more than our gifts, so we should not be exclusively be led by our gifts but by His Spirit. Your gift is not your whole life.
Genuine Love for People
But I want to know God’s will and calling for my life
Romans 12:1–2 NLT

Identity: Child of God—Never Changes
Important Distinctions must be made:

Calling: Mission of God—Never Changes (no matter the context)

One of the most important factors in deciding how you engage with your identity, calling and assignment: Having a servant’s heart

Genuine Love for People

John 15:9–13 NLT
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
John 15:9-
What will stand out the most about our church will not be the programs that we offer but the presence of God that exists in our community and the expression of that presence by how we love people.

Humility

You cannot build humility unless you are willing, at times, to be humiliated. This is the true test of a servant: How does a servant respond when they are treated like a servant?
James 4:5–8 NLT
Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
James 4:7 NLT
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:

Two Keys to Staying Humble

Be Accountable: This tests the stewardship of your life
Be Transparent: This tests the vulnerability of your life

Responding to Credit

John
John 3:25–30 NLT
A debate broke out between John’s disciples and a certain Jew over ceremonial cleansing. So John’s disciples came to him and said, “Rabbi, the man you met on the other side of the Jordan River, the one you identified as the Messiah, is also baptizing people. And everybody is going to him instead of coming to us.” John replied, “No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven. You yourselves know how plainly I told you, ‘I am not the Messiah. I am only here to prepare the way for him.’ It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the best man is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.
The followers of John the Baptists sensed a little bit of competition. They wanted the credit for all the baptizing, “Who does this guy think he is?” He’s overshadowing us!
We must give honor to where honor is due. But If we consistently struggle with needing affirmation than we are serving and living for the wrong reason and the wrong audience. Everything we have is given to us by God.
If God wants to give us something, He will bring it about in his timing and by his way. Sure we can still get things by manipulation, control or performance but in the end we may lose more than we gain. Then we are storing our treasure on earth and not in heaven.
Where am I storing my treasure?
But if we strive for things like cre if we manipulate and control for
