David Picks a FIGHT!
(NKJV) — 6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “You shall not come in here; but the blind and the lame will repel you,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.”
7 Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David).
8 Now David said on that day, “Whoever climbs up by way of the water shaft and defeats the Jebusites (the lame and the blind, who are hated by David’s soul), he shall be chief and captain.”
Therefore they say, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.”
9 Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David.
And David built all around from the Millo and inward.
10 So David went on and became great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him.
- This is modern day Jerusalem - David wanted a central located place to build his home and the Home of GOD -
- small city guarded by 3 valleys and protected by a wall - so it was said to be a strategic nightmare - because it involved attacking UP - taking higher ground -
- phrase repeated over and over - “blind and the lame ward you off”
David could have easily just Settled for Hebron - He could have just settled in as King - became the most powerful nation - but there was a conquest he wanted - there was HILL he wanted to fight for - there was more - He wanted what Israel had feared for so long
David knew the JERUSALEM was GOD’s country!
David Knew His destiny was JERUSALEM –
- There were stories of the JEbusites - how feirce they were - how diabolical they were - They use Psychological warfare on the israelites -
BLIND and LAMB is mentioned 3 times in just 5 verses - WHY?
- Rabbis taught that the JEBUSITES would TAUNT Israelites
- Hang Dummies on their Walls – One that Was BLIND Mocking one of the heros of the Faith ISAAC –

Exactly what the DEVIL Does he uses PSYCHOLOGICAL warfare to TAUNT US

He knew this was his VICTORY –
