Joshua 24:15 NKJV
15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
:
Generation 1 (Chair 1) Joshua, Knew the Lord. Commitment. Their testimony is easy. They can tell you what God has done in their life this week.
Joshua 24
Joshua 24:31 NKJV
31 Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had known all the works of the Lord which He had done for Israel.
Generation 2 (Chair 2) Elders
Generation 2 (Chair 2) Generation of the Elders, Knew the Lord. Not sold out like Joshua’s generation. Grow up in a sold out home = salvation. Linked together with parent’s faith. Instead of commitment you have compromise. Marked with criticism. When they have children they drag them to church. This generation wants to experience God but they do not know how to do so.
Illustrate the family life of chair 2 with church/God. Their testimony stops with their salvation experiences. They saw the works or they knew about them but didn’t experience them.
The grandchildren didn’t even know about the exodus.
Judges 2:
Judges 2:7 NKJV
So the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the Lord which He had done for Israel.
Generation 3 (Chair 3)
Generation 3 (Chair 3) - No Saved - no familial salvation. They see through their parents. The do not have a desire to know the Lord.
Watches parents not being sold out to Christ. Sold out to work, recreation, or family.
Accused Parent’s of being hypocrites and they do not want Church and they miss Jesus. Skeptical bc he has never seen God do a miracle in his parent’s life.
Judges 2:10 NKJV
When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.
The second generation blocks the third generation from seeing the first.
Generation 1 - David - About God and people.
Generation 2 - Solomon - Money.
Generation 3 - Rehoebam
