Why We are Discipleship
Discipleship is the process of devoting oneself to a teacher to learn from and become more like them.
For the Christian, this refers to the process of learning the teachings of Jesus and following after his example in obedience through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Discipleship not only involves the process of becoming a disciple but of making other disciples through teaching and evangelism.
So this is like teaching and learning?
Yes, and also no.
Yes in that it will take a commitment, a discipline, a desire to learn, and a teacher.
No in that it is going to require so much more than your intellect.
This will require all of your being.
Discipleship:  is a very important part of growing into who God created you to be.
If we consider ourselves vessels or cups into which we allow God to pour His love, and our mission to pour our lives into others then we understand that in order to fill others we need an everlasting source.
Discipleship is that source, it is a relationship that is the perfect blending of teacher and scholar, parent and child.
A life group is a collection of our church body that commit to journey together through scripture as well as life.
In order to build a life-giving community amongst each other they share the highs and lows of daily life, help one another, pray together, and study together in order to be a support structure to one another towards building their faith and deepening their understanding of the Character of God and the holiness He is calling them to.
Moses brought the law down from Mount Sinai not just to have the hebrews understand the concepts or intellectually accept them, but in order to result in a lifestyle of obedience.
5 See, I have taught you decrees and laws as the LORD my God commanded me, so that you may follow them in the land you are entering to take possession of it.
Discipleship is the beautiful overlap between instruction and discipline
where the emphasis is both a change in behavior and a growth in knowledge and understanding.
The root and difference between discipleship and teaching and learning is
discipleship is not just a transfer of information from teacher to student but a transformation of your lifestyle to be more like the teacher.
Can the blind lead the blind?
Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

We are called to be more like Christ, more Christ like.
11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
15 These, then, are the things you should teach.
Encourage and rebuke with all authority.
Do not let anyone despise you.
25 Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch.
So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people.
The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.

34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
35 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me and for the gospel will save it.
36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?
37 Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

As we are called to be disciples of Christ, we are commissioned to go further and disciple others.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
To be in Christ is the source of the Christian’s life; to be like Christ is the sum of his excellence; to be with Christ is the fulness of his joy.
CHARLES HODGE
4 Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person.
5 But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them.
This is how we know we are in him: 6 Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.
Find a local church, pour your life into it, and when you witness what is poured out of that ministry, your life will never be the same again.

Havdalah Service
“ Jewish families prepare for the productive work week ahead by singing the joyful Havdalah service.
This observance divides the Sabbath from the upcoming work week and asks God to increase both the families’ offspring and their wealth.
It also highlights their hands, as if to beseech blessing on the work of those very hands.
The Havdalah service is recited over a cup of wine that runs over into the saucer beneath.
This overflowing cup symbolizes the intention to produce during the week ahead not only sufficient to fill one’s own cup, but also an excess that will allow overflow for the benefit of others.”
