Of the many things I’ve witness over the 45 years that I’ve been a follower of Jesus Christ it is how learning to live by faith is not only at times counter-cultural it is also counterintuitive.
Love your enemies, turn the other cheek, pray for those who persecute you, and believe the bible to be wholly true despite the many who try to debunk it.
And on the list goes.
Particularly challenging is the call to trust God not just for our salvation—our eternity—but to trust Him in all things.
One could easily conclude that the bible in its entirety is a lesson on the importance of trusting God in all things.
I could almost close my eyes and flip open the bible and put down my finger on a text and essentially derive the lesson of trust from a quick study of whatever text I’ve landed on.
Just so you’ll know, that’s not how I arrived at today’s focus in .
This morning I want us to look at a short story from the life of the prophet Elijah and take note of what it looks like to trust God in all things.
