The Required Action
Obedience is required for children.

Avoid such people.

Obedience is always based upon obeying God.

Honor was to continue throughout life.
Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for breaking this command -
They said they honored God, but they despised his commands.
Honor those to whom it is due - your parents included.
care for them in old age.
Honor God through showing honor even when it is not deserved.

Provoke not to anger.
Through:
Inconsistent discipline (empty threats, abusive language)
Unrealistic demands
Selfish ambition that you place upon them.
Raise them by the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
The end goal is not that they simply do your wishes, but that they follow the Lord.

Instruction - teaching in Godly attitudes and behavior.
