Who do you think that you are?
Many pious Wednesday night Christian veterans may say, “I’m just a sinner saved by grace”.
Of course that is a good answer, but is there more?
Perhaps as you come to church having been beaten up by the cares of this sin cursed world, you may say…”Who am I? I’m a failure.
I’m a disappointment.
I’m nobody”
In our passage this evening we will see that God values his own.
Not only does he love us, but he uses us as proof to the Accuser that his tactics of corruption are not working.
God so loves his children that He brags on them making sure that the accuser is paying attention to the grace that is active in the lives of God’s own.
In our passage this evening we find the familiar story of Job.
Satan is roaming the earth exercising and demonstrating his dominion over it.
He is looking for someone else he can accuse.
Someone else he can throw in God’s face like he did Adam and Eve.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” (, KJV 1900)
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” (, KJV 1900)

In the face of that hunt for failure, God inserts Job, his servant.
He asks, “have you considered”… meaning are you paying attention?
Think about it!
God uses one of His own to defeat Satan in his tracks!
Tonight we will see how God personally values His own as trophies of Grace to shut the mouth of the Accuser and to get his attention.
I. God gives His own a new name.
A. The old name is erased.
“Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

B. A New Name is Given
“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.”

You Are Called the Servant of God.
A. A position of Calling

Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”

B. A position of Honor

You Are Called the Sons of God.

C. Protected

Conclusion:
Satan is still looking for ways to accuse the brethren.
He is still looking for ways to discredit the power of God.
But don’t forget… if you are a born again believer, you are a trophy of Grace called by a different name, called by God’s name.
And it is that marvelous work of grace wrought in your life that our heavenly Father will use to get Satan’s Attention.
