1 Kings 3:16–28 AV
Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him. And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house. And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house. And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it. And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear. And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king. Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living. And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other. Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it. Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof. And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
I kings 3:16-28
You may know the story ,two women had a babies born to them. But one dies and the mother of the dead child switches children and will not give the child back to the rightful mother.
I don’t know how they got to court , maybe after the fight broke out ,they didn’t any choice but to bring the matter before the King. Because I know their was some stuff going on when this woman discovered that this was not her child.
Not for whatever reason the child was not returned.
they shared the same house
and both were pregnant out of wedlock.
By assumption we can reason that they were not wealthy, did not have a a regular man, and did whatever they could to make ends meet.
this excerpt of scripture is well known. It is most often quoted and used as an example of the wisdom of Solomon. You know King Solomon , the son of Bathsheba and David after they were married , their first child having died. you know Solomon the one who when God asked him what he would have power, riches , he requested wisdom.
This scripture is frequently used as an example how wisdom served him well in determining the rightful mother of the child.
Lets share a few things w learn about these women.
These woman are called harlots,
they shared the same house
and both were pregnant out of wedlock.
By assumption we can reason that they were not wealthy, did not have a a regular man, and did whatever they could to make ends meet.
And they both were mothers.
we do not know how old these children were but we can surmise the children were young, and both male.

Real moms know their children.

Real moms know their child.
You know the good and the bad but a real mom know her child.
You my not act on but you know it.
You know little Johhny is spoiled, a little off, or dangerous, you may not admit it , but a real mom knows.
on this day i want the real moms to stand up and make their children accountable, because if you don’t step up, little johnny is lost.
Don’t let them get away with stuff make them accountable.
Solomon might have been granted the gift of wisdom, but I think God granted mothers the gift of love.
Mothers love their children. Solomon was wise in his actions, but all his wisdom was centered on a mother’s love. It was a mother’s love that would rather see her child with another rather than killed.
You see real Moms sacrifice so much for their children.
Real moms put their children first. on this mother’s day i salute real moms.
Just last week i was listening in court when they were reviewing a case involving Shaniya Davis, her mom sold her to a man for sex and he ended up killing her.
that is not a real mom. that is not real mother. that woman may have birthed her but she did not exhibit the characteristics that exhibit a real mom.
Where was the protectiveness, where was the caring where was the instinct that cause a mother to go in a burning building , lift up a two ton car or face anything to protect her young. like a real mom.

I believe real moms pray.

look at Hannah. She prayed to God for a child. And when God answered her prayer she dedicated the child to God.Real mom honor god. i see so many people pray but after they pray and God comes through for them, they kick God to the curb.
Pray for a job, get a job stop coming to church, won’t pay no money...
Pray for healing get healed, and continue to do as they were doing before...
pray that god intercede in their family situation and when it works out forget all about who made it possible.
Hannah prayed and followed it up .
Real moms pray but real mom’s are faithful to that prayer.

Real moms sacrifice

Jochebed not only defied the law,
but sacrificed and humbled herself for Moses. Not only did she give him up, but served as a caretaker for her own son. She sacrificed so that her child could live.
There was the Phoenician woman who begged Jesus to heal her daughter.
A real mother is not to proud to humble herself for her mother.
Real moms know no shame because nothing is more important than their child.
Real moms raise their children in a way pleasing to God.
Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it.” ( NA
I believe Mark could be all that he was Gospel writer, confidant of both Peter and Paul because he had a real Mom. The church gathered at her house. They prayed at her house, She lived her faith so Mark could see his momma just didn’t talk a good game, she lived a good game.
Timothy could follow Paul because he had faith learned from his mom eunice and her mother Lois.
Somebody might know a little something a real moms and real grandmoms who had faith, Faith that knew there was a way out of know way and that God was always in charge.
You see faith can be passed down from one generation to the next. talking about real Moms
Real moms live their faith. and their children are not confused by the shouting on Sunday and the cursing on Monday,
The dancing on Sunday and the dancing on Saturday night,
The communion on Sunday and the intoxication on friday. What we need is some rela moms, dedicated to God.
Real moms promote their children and support their children. There is a new testament scripture where the wife of Zebedee and the mother of John and James ask Jesus if her son’s can sit on the right and left hand of him we he comes into his Kingdom.
Now a lot of people use that scripture to talk about selfishness or people wanting to be in charge rather that serve. And it is true that not only Jesus but we come to serve, but you have to love a mother looking out for her child. Supporting aa child in athletics, when they make the honor roll, whenever their child is participating they are there.
Real Moms show up for their kids.
And before we get this thing twisted , some folk need to understand, it is not always blood that makes you a real mom. it is love , like the love naomi shared for Ruth.
That eventhoug she was not related by blood, Naomi madesure that Ruth was accepted. And because Naomi was a real mom, Ruth followed her, made Naomi people her people, made NAOMI God her God.
Real moms bring people to God.
Look at Mary
a real mom accepts God’s call
a real mom accepts God blessing
Real mom have no fear
