Introduction
(Brief review of , )
*Read .
and 19 presented us with the final destruction of the False World Religion and the fall of Antichrist’s empire.
Now, there are some debates on how big the kingdom of the Antichrist will be.
Will his empire be global or local?
Whatever the case, his wealthy empire and his false religion will come to a destructive end under the hand of the Almighty.
now shifts gears dramatically.
As the earth-dwellers, those who placed their faith in the system of the Antichrist and worshipped him as divine mourn, all the inhabitants of Heaven now rejoice with great heavenly praise.
As we have come to study the book of Revelation, we have seen several themes through this majestic book: God’s Sovereignty, His Judgment, His Wrath, the glory of Christ.
Another striking theme throughout the book is worship and praise.
It is in this book that we see true worship and true praise.
Worship/Adore: to worship; to express reverence and homage.
Most unfortunately, the worship we see today trending in the church is more horizontal and directed at self, rather than vertical, toward the Throne.
Here in Revelation we have seen worship expressed several times throughout the chapters (4:8-11; 5:8-14;15:3-5).
One of the great themes of this book is the example of proper worship.
Throughout the scriptures we have seen the examples of when people worship the Lord wrongly.
In the Old Testament, the sons of Aaron brought Strange Fire to the altar and because they decided disobey God, they were consumed with fire and killed ().
In the book of Acts, with the establishing of the church, Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit about their offering.
They were then struck dead on the spot ().
Thus, it is suffice to say that God takes how we approach Him very seriously.
We worship, we adore God for who He is and what He does continually.
says “Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.”
15 Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
We worship and give thanks to God for His attributes (He is Sovereign, Just, Immutable, Faithful, etc.).
states: “O LORD, You are my God; I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name; For You have worked wonders, Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.”
We worship and give thanks to God because He Saved us (Salvation).
Thanking God for His judgments.
Of all the things God is to be praised for, perhaps the least expected is for destruction of the wicked.
This is another important theme in Scriptures.
: “Rejoice, O nations, with His people; For He will avenge the blood of His servants, and will render vengeance on His adversaries, and will atone for His land and His people.”
43 “Rejoice, O nations, with His people;
For He will avenge the blood of His servants,
: “Let Mount Zion be glad, Let the daughters of Judah rejoice because of Your judgments.
And will render vengeance on His adversaries,
: “The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
And men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges on earth!”
And will atone for His land and His people.”
10 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance;
He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
: “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; Let the field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy.
Before the Lord, for He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness.
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
11 And men will say, “Surely there is a reward for the righteous;
Let the sea roar, and all it contains;
12 Let the field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy
We as believers pray for the righteousness of God to come and make things right.
Now, this does not mean we pray imprecatory prayers at people who disagree with us.
The fact that we pray for God to bring for His righteousness is also a pray that must be heeded as we all loved ones who are not saved.
Yet, God is patient and loving but the day shall come when that shall cease and Hi s wrath will be bought to bear upon those that have rejected Him, His Son, and His Gospel.
13 Before the Lord, for He is coming,
Surely there is a God who judges on earth!”
For He is coming to judge the earth.
The fury of God’s eschatological wrath began earlier in Revelation when Christ took the scroll from the Father and started to unfurl it ().
By the opening of the scroll, we saw the effects of the seal, the trumpet and finally the Bowl judgments poured out on the earth and those who remain unrepentant and loving of their sins.
He will judge the world in righteousness
Particularly, His judgments target the system of the Antichrist (Religion and Economical) as talked about in .
And the peoples in His faithfulness.
Also to note, people say that God is not being fair or that is so insensitive to talk about such things.
Alarmingly, people have a short-sided view of God and His judgments here and fail to see that the judgment that has been poured out has been poured out on people who have rejected the Gospel call and have hardened their hearts toward God, and have adopted the Antichrist as their god.
During the 7 years, the Gospel will be proclaimed globally, all over the world (114,000, Two Witnesses, The Elect and an Angel flying through midheaven) and no one will have an excuse.
The worship in reaches the crescendo, the highest of all worship as the whole host heaven sing loudly.
The rejoicing is not over the damnation of sinners to hell, but rather that Jesus Christ will soon come and and remove these obstinate sinners from the world and establish His 1,000 year reign on the earth with perfect righteousness.
