Today, Fairview Baptist Church comes to the Lord’s Table on the first Sunday in May for 105th time. I think that tradition is incredible. The Lord’s Supper is always incredible because Jesus commanded us to go to His Table but it is also incredible because of the unity of the table.
The Table is a reminder of Christians that Jesus shed His blood and His body was broken so that we could become a child of God through faith.
The Table is a place to share the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus as Savior.
The Table is a place to call Christians to turn from our sin.
The Table is a reminder concerning the judgement of God.
The Table is a reminder concerning the return of Jesus Christ.
The Table is a reminder that we are one with the Universal Body of Christ, the saints who have gone before us, who stand will us, and who will follow us.
At Fairview, the Table is also a reminder of the unity we have with the local body of Christ, the saints who have gone before us at Fairview, who stand with us now, and who will stand in the future.
