A. God is righteous.
B. Man is not righteous.
C. Jesus was the only righteous man.
D. Righteousness is imputed to the obedient.
BODY:
1. GOD IS RIGHTEOUS.
A. God is righteous, because all of His ways are right.
ps 145.17
1. Righteousness is a breastplate, because God is never wrong.
A. If God says to do or not to do something, it is always for man’s good.

A breastplate protects the vital organs of the chest in war, and righteousness protects the Christian’s spiritual vital organs in spiritual war.
2. MAN IS NOT RIGHTEOUS.
A. Man is not righteous, because all of his way are not right.
1. Man is not capable of directing his own steps.
2. Man must turn to the Scriptures for direction.
A. It is this direction that protects man and acts as a breastplate.

If the Christian is on the proper path, then there are many things that he or she will be protected from.
3. JESUS WAS THE ONLY RIGHTEOUS MAN.
A. Jesus is righteous, because all His ways are perfect.

All other men have sinned.
2. For this reason, Jesus is our example.
A. Jesus always did what was pleasing to God.

This is how we put on the breastplate of righteousness—by always doing those things which are pleasing to the Father.
2. If we will put the mind of Christ in us, then we will put on the breastplate of righteousness.
4. RIGHTEOUSNESS IS IMPUTED TO THE OBEDIENT.

1. Have you been obedient to God?
A. If not, His righteousness cannot protect you!
B. If so, then God’s righteousness will protect you like a breastplate.
