1. Judgment on Edom - 35

Mt. Seir judged - the high place is the prominence and the military advantage - take the high place own the battle.
prophecy of desolation - vs 1-4
that you shall know that I am the Lord
the cause & affect of the prophecy - perpetual hatred vs 5-9
the ancient (deception of Esau by Jacob) hatred of Israel - but did not hate blood - i.e. they loved taking blood vs 5-6
see they had encouraged the enemies of Israel to kill them
cut off from it the one who leaves and the one who returns vs 7
ultimate affect is death vs 8
Bottom line: “you shall know that I am the Lord”
causes and result of their hatred: Anger & Envy vs 10-12
Anger/no mercy type anger - see and and
Envy - vs 10-11 see &
Resulted: in Blaspheming the mountains of Israel vs 12 - the Mountain of Israel was Mt. Zion - where David first battled the Jebusites for it - -3 the Lord loves the gates of Zion - More than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of you. see synonomous with Judah - Jesus was the Lion of the tribe of Judah - Mt Zion - literally means fortification - You could extrapolate that it stands for the purpose of God in salvation and the defeat of evil.
Result: Edom believed they could consume them - vs 12b
All sin is ultimately an offense against God - vs 13
Including the sin of rejoicing in other’s trouble vs 14-15 - see - take out the negative and this is what Corinth and Edom were guilty of.

the hallowing of His name vs 23 - Hallowed vs. see 28:25 cf

16 But the Lord of hosts shall be exalted in judgment,
And God who is holy shall be hallowed in righteousness.
a. the right thing is to hallow or make holy or to revere the name of the Lord.
- Hallowed be thy name.
b. “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately to cry out.”
