English is funny sometimes because we can use the same word and it contains different meanings depending on the circumstances. For instance:

Synopsis SYNOPSIS
Time has passed, Isaac is neither boy nor man
God calls Abraham to sacrifice Isaac as a burnt offering to God
Abraham seeks to be obedient to God
God sends an angel to stop Abraham before he goes through with the sacrifice & provides a ram instead
Abraham and Isaac go back home

What is the application for me today of Jehovah Jireh?
PRAY
Oh God our Father you are great and mighty, you are the creator and sustainer of all things. We worship you for you are holy, and worth to be praised. LORD as we endeavor to look into your Word this morning please give us insight, give us your Spirit so that we might understand these spiritual things. We live lives of privilege God, you have blessed us! So often we lose sight of our need for you as our personal Jehovah Jireh, expose to us today our needs and how you provide for us!

1 After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

Many former trials will not supersede nor secure us from further trials; we have not yet put off the harness
11 And the king of Israel answered, “Tell him, ‘Let not him who straps on his armor boast himself as he who takes it off.’ ”
7 so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Can you even fathom a request like this? How would we respond?
If God asked me to offer up my whatever this is to Him I don’t know if I could.
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. 4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. 5 Then Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and come again to you.”

It is our wisdom and duty, when we are going to worship God, to lay aside all those thoughts and cares which may divert us from the service, leave them at the bottom of the hill, that we may attend on the Lord without distraction.

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, 18 of whom it was said, “Through Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 19 He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back.

When we come to worship the LORD we would do well to ask ourselves where is our sacrifice? Where is our heart?
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Why are we asking for God’s provision?

Abrahams unwavering trust in Jehovah Jireh is what enabled him to fully worship!
Therefore we must bind up anything that we hold in a place which is only fit for God and lay it on the alter as a sacrifice before Him trusting fully in His provision for us.

God our father we so often consider the creation rather then the creator. LORD you have created all things and all things belong to you. You have blessed us in ways that we can only begin to imagine and yet so often we are tempted to worship the gift rather then the giver. God give us your Spirit that we might have our minds renewed to see where we are living the life of an idolator. No matter how precious the gifts you give us they can only dimly reflect the glory of your worth. Therefore LORD help us to as Abraham was and as Christ asked be willing to forsake it all for the precious, priceless, indescribably glorious, riches we find in a relationship with you as accepting Christ as our Lord and savior. Your Son, your only Son who you love and whom you have given up on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. He who took our sin upon himself so that we might be seen as righteous in your sight. The Christ the Lamb of God who wrought our salvation through His substitutionary atonement. Oh LORD receive our worship now and forever for you are worth oh Jehovah Jireh!
