If you had the opportunity to change something at work: all you had to do was talk to the boss, and you knew the boss would listen, would you do it?
Captain Folsom and Corporal Thyden
Sometimes we don’t recognize the power of our words
Why We Are Prayer
Speaking truth to Power
It is important for us to be a church that prays, and a church that believes and empowers others to pray and to understand the power of prayer.
It is important that we recognize that power.
13 Is anyone among you in trouble?
Let them pray.
Is anyone happy?
Let them sing songs of praise.
14 Is anyone among you sick?
Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.
15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.
If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
17 Elijah was a human being, even as we are.
He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.
We must consider times and seasons.
George Mueller used to say that he first asked and settled this question concerning any proposed measure: “Is this the Lord’s work?”
Then, “Is this the Lord’s way?”
And last, but not least, “Is this the Lord’s time?”
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Faith is to prayer what the feather is to the arrow: without it prayer will not hit the mark.
